Nicolas Eymerich - The Inquisitor - Book 1: The Plague reviews

This game is a hassle. The graphics pretty average but good it passes. Not what is really boring is the mouse pointer that is badly lacking in precision and also the unfolding of the game. We look at an area for the first time "nothing interesting". We go back 1 second later and there are 3 new objects. And I'm on it. I am rather good client of this type of game but there it has me so inflated that I have not even finished.

Also for a small Price I can't recommend Nicolas Eymerich-The Inquisitor-Book 1: The Plague. I actually like such mysterious and religious Stories that play in the Middle Ages, but unfortunately the Game is not really good. The Story doesn't fully convince, as it's not even a whole story, but more of a short Episode. The Puzzles are partly strange and somewhat awkward. The Graphics are outdated and the Soundscape is not really appropriate, if there is one. For this, the English, Italian or even Latin Language Editions (with German Subtitles) have become quite good and provide at least some Atmosphere. If the Game just wasn't deficient in so many Areas, then I would have even found it quite good.

Playing an Inquisitor is an original idea! And not just any since it is Nicolas Eymerich, ruthless hero of the Church created by Valerio Evangeslisti and adapted for the first time in video game. Very good points: the game is subtitled French but also doubled in Italian and even in Latin!! Nice for immersion. So that's a good basis for a point'n click. Too bad the realization is so messy! The camera is sometimes annoying, the graphics not very successful (especially at the level of the characters), the objects sometimes so "well" hidden that one has to play the pixel Hunt, or even look at the solution to learn that one is blocked since 1h because of an object almost invisible. In addition, he takes a recipe from the first run away: that of not wanting to pick up or activate certain elements, as long as he does not have a good reason to do so. But in a partial way! So, out of the question of picking up a stick. Why would you do that? On the other hand, a rag, Oh yes! "you never know." As a matter of fact, we quickly forget the existence of this stick and all these other objects in reality indispensable. Same thing for a portal that Mister refuses to open. But just see a scum to accept to break it in half. I hate this kind of mechanics. In General, the puzzles did not entertain me. I found them boring, sometimes drawn by the hair. And the final scene of the dream sucks. Finally, be aware that this is an episodic game. Hard to recommend it, or to advise against it. I'll just give him a 13/20.
