Nuhpajol
About
NOTE: Make Full Screen for best effect, some of the tutorial notes get cut off due to weird webgl scaling.
Nuhpajol or (Nuhpaja Jol)* is roughly one Mayan word/phrase that means "To put heads together". This game relies on controlling two players Red/Blue that each move in different ways but both are controlled via WASD.
Strategize and synergize your movements to hit a ball into a goal the most efficiently while avoiding enemies.
This is more of a concept demo than a full game, but there are seven levels that explore the different ways this behavior can be used.
The art and general game concept is based on the Meso-American Ballgame and Mayan art, particularly from the Codex Dresden (Which you should get a print of because it is fascinating).
Logo is based on the symbol for Eclipse from the Codex Dresden.
All art, music, coding etc. done by me.
Software used:
Unity, Aseprite, and Bosca Ceoil.
*This may or may not be 100% accurate, had a short time span to work on the game for a game jam and resources on Mayan language are lengthy and complex. So take it with a grain of salt.
