Obduction reviews

This game is very interesting with compelling mechanics and an intriguing story but the tedious design does it no favors. I love Myst and games like that but this game just has some convoluted mechanics like it's usage of base 10 numbering. The swapping mechanism that is central to the game is cool and gets complex in some cool ways but with it comes a loading screen that on new consoles is almost a sin. One segment near the end of the game requires constant swapping and it becomes very frustrating having to wait up to half a minute every other minute. The backtracking can also get old and unnecessary in some cases. I struggle to understand why this style and feel of game can not break away from such tired and outdated tropes to really make a great game. On top of this the game looks very old and the music is all over the place. While exploring some of the cool worlds you get this goofy piano and trumpet music instead of a creepy mysterious tone. I have no idea what they were going for here. I'm sure on PC this played a lot better and I know they had VR support and I'm sure either way is better than the traditional console controller because it's a bit clumsy.
