About

In the 1500s, Spanish conquistadors stole many gold artifacts from the indigenous peoples of modern-day Colombia, including the Muisca and Zenú.
To the indigenous Colombians, these artifacts were not of monetary value -- they were sacred religious objects.

The artifacts represented in this game are held by El Museo del Oro in Bogotá, Colombia.
Yet many of the artifacts stolen by Spanish conquistadors are held in both private and public collections elsewhere in the world.  And illegal trade in stolen artifacts is a global threat to preserving cultural heritage.  This is an ongoing tragedy.
