About

Otem’s Defiance is a fast-paced dodge-and-shoot bullet hell indie game.

You play as Otem, a young child who has been chosen as a sacrifice to the gods of his tribe, known as the Ringods. As they materialize in the center of the ring-shaped arena, you must dodge their different attacks, avoid obstacles, traps, collect power-ups and shoot energy orbs in order to defeat them and survive the ritual lead by the tribe’s Shaman, who seems to have a personal interest in your death.

A game with simple yet addictive mechanics that are quick to grasp but hard to master. Incrementally difficult levels will leave you with an immense sense of satisfaction when you beat them and unlock new abilities that will aid you in your quest.

Fast and responsive running, dodging, jumping and shooting controls that demand plenty of quick reflexes.

Over 16 Ringods with 3 levels of difficulty each, all with different attack patterns and debuffs.

Five different locations on the Aterra continent to play in, spawning more than 36 unique Rings.

An eclectic, epic, blood pumping and beautiful soundtrack mixing different genres.

Ramping difficulty curve which goes from very easy to insanely challenging.

Epic boss fights against the evil Shaman.

Rating system for each level performance.

Over 30 Steam Achievements integrated.

A touching story about defying authority told in an animated comic unlocked as you progress.

Otem's Defiance reviews and comments

I Have been Beta Tester of Otem's Defiance for some time and I've seen it grow little by little (prouder I can not be). Otem's is a circular platform game in which you must eliminate the Ringods, who want to destroy you as part of a sacrificial ritual. The gameplay is simple and this allows you to take the rhythm very fast, however that does not mean it is easy. The mediated that you are advancing, new Ringods appear and have different ways of reacting. As I always said during the test stage, the idea is to understand each behavior because with 3 lives in your favor is essential to care for and understand the mechanics of the game. The Art of the game is another very interesting point, you will be able to see different explanatory illustrations to the story with the narrative at the bottom. Graphically It is very nice and will squeeze your computer to the maximum so you get to enjoy a great finish. Otem's Defiance is a very addictive game and then ends up being a personal challenge, at first the difficulty plays a very important role and that is the key, you always want to try again, you can spend a lot of time on a level tried to overcome and just missing a Ringod, lose. Those Who enjoy passing levels with increased difficulty and an entertaining mechanics because this title could be one more in your library and has no waste. I'M very happy with the results of the game.

In Otem's Defiance You drive to Otem, a boy who must eliminate the Ringods (a kind of Totems) in a circular platform game if he does not want to be sacrificed by the members of his tribe. As you see the screenshots of the page of the store, so are all screens (of course, each screen has obstacles, enemies and very different features that make them unique each). You Count with 3 lives for each phase, and, although at the beginning of the game you can think: "Boh, what a game easier"; By little you play the difficulty is going up MUUUUUUUUchísimo to make you frustrated and take more than half an hour on a simple screen that should last 2 minutes. Just like that. It Gets to the point of being very frustrating. You Can't choose the difficulty, so that's the one. If You like challenges, this is your game. If, on the contrary, you are to leave the games half if you pose a major challenge, or you come down when you can not get it... You better not buy it because you'll leave soon. The game mixes The simplicity of being always that kind of circular platform with the aim of eliminating the ringods, with the complexity of going using different powerups that appear on screen (Recover life, faster, shield, fury (unlimited bullets for 10 seconds), as well as different skills that you learn after passing each world (typical, double jump, etc). Another detail to note is that there are many different Ringods (the "totems" of the center), some laser shoot, others put mines, others defend themselves with shield... There is a LOT of variety and in some levels the combination of these is very fucked. A positive point is that the developers (at least today), are getting enough constant updates, arranging small fallitos and hearing the suggestions of the players. Another positive point of the game is that after passing each "world", you can see some very interesting "comic" illustrations, especially for the graphic style. At the time of doing this review I have not yet spent it all, I have a little, so I can not comment on the end of the title, as I am somewhat stuck and it is costing me enough every single screen to pass me. But I'm still hooked on him, since I like challenges. I would recommend it to anyone who likes the challenges. But maybe the price might be a little high. I would recommend taking it, though perhaps in a future rebajilla or similar. That goes into the choice of each one. I Edit the review: When I did, the game cost €15.
