I played all the Painkiller Parts and would like to say something about the whole Series for a moment. Further down, I'll go into the exact Game: Painkiller is a rather unknown Series that started very early and is still being developed to this day. However, only the Black Edition (the first Part) and Hell & Damnation come from the same Developer. All other Parts were either originally programmed as a Mod or developed by Fans (Indies).
Gameplay Painkiller is a First-person shooter that's all about butchering. We get dropped souls for each Opponent and regenerate an HP. With 66 Souls you briefly become a Demon, the Screen turns black white and you can see enemies better. Everything but Final Opponents then falls over in one Fell swoop. Otherwise, we have the same Weapons at our disposal almost in every Part, except we play Samael, who joins In the second Part and has slightly modified Weapons. One clops through various Levels, from Leningrad to a Monastery to an Opera and gets various Enemies to butcher in front of the Shotgun. This is probably one of the strongest Points in Painkiller, as the Cards are very different and it is quite nice to look at. In each Level, there is an additional Mission that can be accomplished. For Example, turning into a Demon three times, killing all Enemies, or finding all the Hiding Places. If you Meet them, you get a Tarot Card that you can equip for Gold outside the Levels. The Gold can be obtained by Destroying Objects and Finding some very hidden Objects and Relics. With The Tarotcards, you have to distinguish between passive and active ones. Once (or twice) you can use the Active Ones per Level and the Liabilities are as the name suggests: Passive. At the same time, however, you can only have a few (about 5) Tarotcards equipped overall. But it is often very difficult to serve a Mission. In addition, I can only advise not to play the game at one of the two heavier Levels of difficulty, as it is almost impossible and I know only one Person who has made it on the heaviest. In addition, the Degree of Difficulty can no longer be changed in Retrospect. Finally, in the Game I have to warn against explosive Barrels, which can kill you far too quickly in general and unfortunately rarely have any Benefit. Several barrels are particularly annoying Side by side, as an Explosion distributes the other Barrels across the Room.
Story The Story rather takes a Back seat to Painkiller. While the first Part is still relatively clear, it becomes difficult later. Because each Painkiller has two Ends, with the "true" Ending only coming if you make it to "Trauma," the highest Level of Difficulty. This makes it difficult in the second Part, which end is now being followed up and what has happened now. In Addition, I already wrote that there were many different Developers and you don't really know what has been taken over now and what hasn't. The Basic Idea of the Painkiller, (or Daniel, for that matter) of gathering souls and killing Generals of Hell, only for him to Go to heaven to his Wife, I find very poetic and beautiful. I find it a great pity that the Developers didn't bring the Story deeper into the Game.
Music I LOVE the Music of Painkiller. In each Part you can butcher and hear a Mixture of Metal and Hard Rock. The Music is an important Part of Painkiller and otherwise it would be only half as much Fun. I'd listen to that too, without playing the Game:D
So and now to the actual Game Recurring Evil is probably the worst Part of the Series And at least I just didn't Enjoy it.
The Story is rather boring and is not even reproduced in FIlm Sequences, but only in Text form. Dure levels are not so special and the Graphics have not been improved either. You can really pop the story into the Barrel here and it's very little Fun. I can't really recommend it for £10 in particular.
Little Tip: It might not run on Windows 7 and only a light blue Screen is coming. That's because the Game doesn't come clear with the Resolution. EIne solution exists here [www.spieleforum.de].
I also recorded a small Review in Video form here recommending which Parts you should get and which one shouldn't. Also, under each Part you will find a Review of me:-)
I always look forward to a Subscription or Feedback =) Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnSRud1ckwg Alternatively, if you liked the Review, you can also follow my Curator Group on Steam To get my Reviews to other Games.
