About

PixelJunk Shooter is the fourth installment of the PixelJunk franchise, in which each game is based on another genre. Unlike the previous PixelJunk games, Shooter does not feature the series' trademark hardcore difficulty.

Plot

Another departure from the PixelJunk traditions is that Shooter has a backstory. The game is set on a faraway planet Apoxus Prime. The scientists explore its enormous caves to mine resources. The player controls a starship called Ers Pinita Colada. Its captain answers to a distress signal from Apoxus Prime and tries to rescue the scientists lost in the caves.

Gameplay

The player flies the ship in the underground tunnels. The goal is to locate and save the scientists. The ship uses its gun to destroy enemies or to clear the way from ice and rocks. The ship has no hit points. Instead, a thermometer measures the ship's temperature. The player has to avoid overheating and remember to cool the ship, for example, by diving into water.

The underground features monsters, villains and other dangers. There are many environmental puzzles that require the player to manipulate water, lava, stones, and other elements to access the scientists and unlock doors. PixelJunk Shooter has three episodes comprised of five levels each, and levels consist of short stages. The player can only progress by saving the scientists, and if five or more of them die, he or she has to restart. A secondary objective is to gather the collectibles such as diamonds.

PixelJunk Shooter reviews and comments

Prepare to face an unpredictable, ubiquitous and often deadly element, much worse than fire, water or ice: your gambling partner. Offering real moments of jubilation, fear, laughter and tension to two (or alone but it is immediately a little more sadness), PixelJunk shooter manages, with his physique frankly bluing and a concept both simple and incredibly well mastered to provoke, through often hot sequences, some very cold sweats.

It seems to me that the game comes from the PSN at the base, at the time of the PS3. I had played in co-op and I had found it really fun and friendly. It's definitely not the best game in the world, but it's a good little game. Especially in co-op. You control a ship in a confined space (surrounded by walls) and your shots allow you to interact with the décor to complete the level. It can be for example shoot a bulb full of water so that it falls on fire and that it turns off or use your grapple for various reasons... The gameplay is cool; a good experience that I recommend, especially for the Coop!

If you are looking for a nice little game to play two in the couch, look no further: "PixelJunk shooter" aka "cave shooter" (according to the. exe) will make you spend a few hours very enjoyable. The gameplay is very original and the graphics quite pretty. Note however that the second part of this game is not available on steam and that to play it you will have to buy the ultimate Edition, which also contains the levels of the first game (this one, therefore). Also note that if you buy this game and then the ultimate version, your backups will be detected and you will not have to re-enter all levels of the first shooter to access those of the second.

I was so happy when I saw that there are the Pixeljunk Games on Steam as well. Have loved them on the PS3 before and I continue to find the Games just great. Pixeljunk Shooter is a Game in which the Heart of Collectors beats faster: You rescue scientists and you have to find Crystals. This varies from Level to Level: Sometimes you have an Ice Level, sometimes you have a fire level. You fly as a Spaceship And attack the Enemies, who sometimes just appear out of Nowhere and are sometimes obviously there, with Rockets. The Scientists are saved with a Gripping Farm. Here you just have to be careful not to mix up the Keys, so that a Scientist quickly blesses the Temporal thing ^^ In terms of Difficulty, the Game is relatively simple at The Beginning and increases when you get to Episode 3. Each Episode has multiple Levels, with the last being always an End Boss to defeat with Strategy. I'm still incredibly thrilled and can heartily recommend the Game and also the other Pixeljunk Games =)
