There was some drama that happened that saw a split from the Quaddicted community into a new one called Slipseer. Could someone in the know ELI5 for me why this happened? I just found out about it and from the small details I have read, it just sounds so ridiculous that it defies all sense of logic.

So I've recently started getting into quake modding and found a cool map pack I like: Brutalist Jam Pack. I tried to download it through the injector but it only gave an error message after downloading: "invalid compression method!". What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a few days ago, I learnt that in the quake shareware CD, there were encrypted versions of quake as well as other id software games that could be unlocked (you would be given a code depending on the game, call a number, give them money, tell them your code and in return they would give you a second code you had to input to unlock the game you wanted to. Since the games were stored on the disc but we're encrypted, cracks were soon made and you could get the entire Id software library for 10$To test it, I triee to run the IDstuff program on windows 3.1 through dosbox, however the program would always display with an error that I did have a quake unlock disc (I have no idea what that is). If anyone knows anything to troubleshoot this issue I would appreciate itP.s. I already own the games on steam, I'm not pirating them, this is simply for testing purposes and to see if it still works in modern age.
I wanted to start playing the 3rd game but it keeps loading into this. Any tips to fix it? Thanks.
