About

Quell is an enchanting puzzle game of logic and relaxation.

The game-play is simple: slide a little water droplet around a window-pane, avoid the spikes and collect the pearls. Easy, right?

Absolutely, but the beauty of Quell is in the perfectly pitched difficulty curve - it's just taxing enough to test your powers of logic, but never so much so that it stops being fun. The gentle music (by acclaimed composer Steven Cravis) and ambience create the perfect setting to allow your brain to engage fully with these ingenious puzzles.

If you're willing to dig deeper still, there's a side narrative which tells a touching story of love, loss and nostalgia. Either way, Quell is a haunting experience that will stay with you long after you've finished it.

Quell reviews and comments

Quell Is about collecting all The Beads in the respective Level by Moving a Drop. Since the Drop does not stop its Movement (up, down, left or right) until it hits an Obstacle, the whole Endeavor is not so easy and can end in an Endless loop if you unconsidered the Drop beyond the Edge of the Pitch and on Sending the opposite Side back into it, etc. etc ... So you have to think carefully beforehand about which Way to choose best with the Drop. As new Obstacles gradually emerge, the Game becomes increasingly difficult, but remains manageable with some Bitterness. You can make a Level insoluble by making a wrong move, but in fairness you are alerted every Time you have bent something irrevocably, and can restart the Level. That's how you learn to do it, too. I don't particularly like The Graphics and music of Quell, and since there are other Games I prefer to invest my Life in, I probably won't be teasing Quell to The end. Those who like quiet, stratgic Games, in which, as long as they like, they are allowed to consider every single Move, will have their Joy with them.

The Game is very good. Games with a simple Game Idea (as here the Case) have a certain Risk of being inconsequential rather than exciting. This is, of course, also a Matter Of taste. I really like the Game idea. The Idea is a Variant Of the Board game Raging Robot. You have to reach certain Fields on the Playing field (preferably in as few moves as possible) with your Figure (here a beautifully animated Drop of water). The first (with me about 40) levels are pretty simple (a little too easy). Then it slowly becomes more difficult, so at least sometimes it doesn't get easy to need only the minimum Number of Trains. Some Levels I find quite challenging, especially if you want to solve them perfectly. So I still have a few Nuts to crack. You can also pass level or get Clues. I haven't used it (yet), but it's good if there's such a thing. I found the Level Design very successful. Each Level was markedly different and so No Boredom arose. The Control is comfortable with undo and reset function. You can control just as well with Controllers such as a Keyboard and Mouse. The Graphics are very beautiful and stylish. The music, who Is meditative-inspired in far east, is appropriate and does not distract. Pro & Contra: + Very nice, simple but Entertaining Game idea + Some sophisticated level + undo function + good Design o Initially many very light level rating: 10/10 This Game has given me a lot Of Puzzle fun.
