Early access review quote: be beautiful and especially shut up!
Quote is an action-RPG game that just came out in early access on steam. It embodies, Novella, a young princess who will have to purify the world of knowledge. Under the orders of bliss, the God of ignorance, she is going to have to destroy all knowledge, kill all the perpetrators and burn all the free that she will find. A whole program! She will not be alone in this company of mass destruction. Indeed, she can count on the help of tatters, a kind of bird-stomach that has a fierce appetite. It will also help us to become stronger as we search for books.
It will be necessary to fight enemies through simplistic combos, push them into the fire and collect "quotes". These allow us to form understandable phrases in our brain. These quotes are of different colors and will allow us to unlock the entrance of dungeons in order to find the valuable works. In this special and dreamlike world, we are going to have to do evil, but can we really destroy it by eradicating all sorts of knowledge?
And the award for the reimbursement of the fastest steam game is awarded to...
The basic idea of quote seems excellent and the trailer gives very envy. The graphic design is original and is good for the independent who spent a few years tweaking her baby. Unfortunately, a few seconds after the start of the game, we quickly understand that the game came out way too fast! It's simple, nothing stands up, the music seems shifted compared to the action, the interface is undrinkable! The controls are approximate and we will spend most of his time teleporting from one place to another rather than walking. The management of the controllers is experimental, it is obviously not masked! The game only manages the QWERTY keyboards, the texts overlap, the voices are a bit amateur and we do not understand much of the story!
The management of skills is based on areas of the body of our 2 protagonists but it is not clear how to manage it. We buy books but we do not see how to use them. Quests are illegible on the left side of the screen. I would not talk about the choice of color of texts and Windows that we do not even notice on the prologue! The realization is there also mediocre with strong slowdowns on a very good machine when traveling between zones. The game is neither enjoyable nor even playable in the State. We get lost and we don't understand where to go and what to look for.
O rage, o despair.
No more throwing, the Cup is full, quote just came out way too soon. If we leave him for a few more months to refine, there may be something to be learned but not now. Given the quality of some other early access, there is no shame in saying that quote does not deserve to be bought at all and that it should be avoided! Too bad because the concept looks friendly and the idea of basic rather original.
