About

Realm of the Mad God is a multiplayer-only cooperative game in which teams of players hunt for monsters. The game uses a minimalistic retro-pixelated visual style with very simple animations.

Plot

According to the game's backstory, the mad god Oryx kidnapped the protagonists and transported them to his dark dimension. He is going to use them as food for his hordes of monsters. However, the protagonists have weapons, and they will fight back.

Gameplay

Most of the gameplay consists of slaying monsters with a fantasy version of firearms. The game uses the top-down third-person view. The player controls his or her character with the use of a keyboard (for movement) and a mouse (for aiming).

The central part of each server is Nexus, a safe zone in which the players can trade. From Nexus they teleport to various realms where they receive quests that involve killing monsters. When they kill enough monsters, they may encounter a boss, and eventually Oryx himself.

Characters

There are fifteen character classes, but the new player has to start with only Wizard class available. Other classes that include Ninja, Samurai, Paladin, and Assassin, among others, will be eventually unlocked when the player gains more experience.

An unusual feature of the Realm of the Mad God is the permanent death. When the player's character is killed, he or she will not respawn. All equipment of the dead character is also lost.

Realm of the Mad God reviews and comments

10/10 - I may have a problem.

Realm of the Mad God gets a lot of flack for its graphics and for its shop mechanics, but at it’s core  it’s a massively fun idea that has kept me coming back year after year.  I haven’t played it nonstop, but i have the better part of 100 hours with it over 5 years and every time I’ve picked it up I’ve had a blast.

And this is also coming from someone who hasn’t played any other major bullet hell games!  Because of this game, I’m looking into playing another title in the genre.  I do however like rogue likes and I like mmo or social games, so those are pluses for me.  The loot system which has you collecting stat potions and rare gear to progress after leveling stops at level 20, and the sheer difficulty of some dungeons requiring you to team up with others are both aspects that I adore.

The worst part of the game is definitely lag or server issues on the rare instance that they occur, but this does not even come close to outweighing the pros.  The game is being updated to Unity with RotMG: Exalt here (entering open Beta within the next month), and I’m super excited for all of the updates that will come with it.

Salty Severspagetti for home-you take an inherently good Game (Realm of the Mad God)-1 Ton salt server with a Stability of Spagetti, The All dente are Man mixing everything in one Pot and adding a Pinch of player tears and finished you have a game which is from the PR INZIP is good, but equipped with such ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ servers is that the Fun of playing will spred up from Serveragags that lead to Death and thus to the loss of a Character very much salted. RITO pls fix it Kappa

I created My Account 4 Years and 145 Days ago and I still play. Most of The time, though, in the Browser or with client for better Performance. What shall I say. Realm is sometimes hard and Frustrating because of Permadeath and quite repetetetiv at the Pot Farm but I never completely stopped playing but always came to be reflected. Realm simply awakens the Ambition to get better when you die and the Hunt for whitebags is downright addictive. Right now that Deca Realm of the Mad God has taken over, I hope to receive a lot of support patches and Events. If you have strong nerving to get through the Hard Start time So right now the perfect Moment would start.

The Game is a lot of Fun! However, one should bear in mind that from Level 20 it takes quite a bit of grinding (to get the best Equipment) & that it can be very frustrating (especially at the Beginning or when you die with a good Character). But somehow that's all the Appeal about the Game, too. :D I advise you to buy Items from the Item shop as it is 1 Lame & noobig and 2. Since when you die you also lose the Items and thus your Money. Buy money if you want to put Money into it, Vaultboxes and Character Slots. They will remain forever;) The only thing you could criticize is that there are relatively many cheaters with Aimbots in ROTMG, but since it's PvE and not PvP, that's Relatively OK ... The only thing that is a bit annoying about it is that Kabam doesn't seem to be doing anything about it ... But Hammer Game, everyone should have tried! :D

Probably my most played game. I recommend it but beware : if you like it this game will take your soul, i dont play on steam so it only says 34 hours but in reality i probably have way more than 1000 hours of playing this game. Its overall a game with simple mechanics, you shoot at monsters, they shoot at you and sometimes when they die they drop loot. But what makes it great imo is the permadeath mechanic : If you die, you die. What i mean by that is that you dont get your character back, which makes this game really chalenging and is the main reason it has an infinite replayability. This game is easy to pick up but takes a long time to master. I would say it is a bit pay2win but then again not that much, i personally only spend 20 $ on it over a bit more than 1 year of playing and i am doing just fine. So yeah this game is pretty damn good, you should give it a try. Ty for reading and sorry for my bad english
