In my Childhood, I enjoyed Playing Ulrich Kirchhoff's Riding Star (Part 1 of the Series). When I discovered Part 3 here on Steam, I just had to buy it.
In Riding Star-Horse Championship you have the Opportunity to start in Dressage, jumping and Cross country Competitions with your three Horses, Whose Name and Appearance you can determine for yourself. You can't choose the Breed of horse and with each Horse you can only start at one of the three Types Of competition. One starts in the lowest Class and works your way forward tournament by Tournament up to the Class S in Aachen. Before you can start in the next higher Class, you first have to be placed in all three Competitions of the previous class. In addition, you have to train your Horses accordingly in order to increase the Horse's Abilities and thus obtain the Starting permit For the next Class. With each Victory, you unlock more Equipment or colour alternatives for your Character and horses. It also has the Option of cleaning and feeding the Horses as well as free Rides for Unptrimming.
From a Level of Difficulty, I really liked Riding Star-Horse Championship. The Competitions are demanding and it's not easy to land on the Winner's Podium. Especially in Dressage you have to practice a little, until you have passed the Shortcuts and Mouse control for the Special Figures in such a way that you get correspondingly high Points from the Judges. Nevertheless, the Show jumping in the higher Classes caused me much more Problems, because here you have to combine Speed and pinpoint Jumping Off. The Cross Country Competitions were, in my View, rather simple compared to the other two Disciplines. I imagine the high Level of Difficulty in the higher Classes of Dressage and Show jumping for younger Players quite leads to Frustration. You can't just play through it, you have to practice a little Bit. For me, on the other hand, the Difficulty level was perfect to have a longer interest in the game, because just if I didn't win the Tournament right at the first Attempt, that spurs to train a little further and improve.
The Game is very clearly tournament oriented, so apart from Advancing in the Competitions there are no Goals or Challenges. I think it is a Pity that you have no Possibility to bring your Horses out to pasture or to take care of the Farm (Stall or the like). Furthermore, the Possibilities of influencing Different Feed could have been somewhat expanded. In the Game it doesn't matter if I feed my Horse Roughage or Bread, mainly it gets something to Eat.
Cleaning after Training or after a Tournament is a little monotonous to annoying in the Long run, but as in real Life, it's part of it.
I only looked at the free Rides for a short time and otherwise paid no further attention. Since there are no Goals here, my Interest could not be aroused as a result. For younger Players or those who just want to relax a little, however, there may well be a Raison d 'Être.
Overall, Riding Star-Horse Championship is a beautiful, real-life Tournament game that I can recommend to any Horse Lover regardless of age. In 13 Hours of Play until winning Class S, I didn't get bored or lose the Fun of the Game. I would Like to have a Part 4 in which I would like to see some Further Developments for Stable life and feeding-combined with the Introduction of Prize Money and Horse Purchases.
