== SDL2 Rogue ==

A roguelike, written in SDL2. This game was created as part of the SDL2 game tutorial series from Parallel Realities.

Junior lab technician Sophie Ramsbottom has accidentally let loose a bunch of experimental mice, who have made their way to the local dungeon to hide out. It's up to her to deal with the little rascals before her boss finds out and she gets in trouble.

The goal of the game is to reach floor 13 and defeat the Mouse King. Along the way, you will need to do battle with his many minions - Micro Mouse, Neo Mouse, Tough Mouse, Rabid Mouse, and Meta Mouse.

This is a traditional roguelike, featuring permadeath.

== How to play ==

WASD: Control character

Tab: Open inventory

Escape: Pause / In-game menu

Mouse

- In dungeon view: Left click, walk to tile / attack monster at tile

- In inventory: Left click to select / deselect items, and use controls

To attack monsters or collect items, walk into them. You can also hover the mouse over monsters, items, and objects to identify them.

Walking into stairs will move you to a higher or lower floor, depending on the direction of the stairs.

Keys are used to open doors with a red light at the bottom. Doors with a green light are already open.

Health Kits restore 25 hp.

Antidotes cure poison.

Press Tab to open the inventory

== Inventory ==

To equip items, click on them and then click the Equip button. Remove equipped items by clicking on the equipment slot and then selected Remove. When equipping and removing items, a stats comparison will be displayed on the right of the inventory.

To destroy an item, click Trash. The item must be in your inventory do to this (i.e., not equipped).

Click Up and Down to scroll up and down through your inventory.

Use the arrow keys to navigate and change options. Use the left and right arrow keys to change volumes.

Save games are stored in two files: save.json and save.map. Highscores are saved to highscores.json. Options are saved to options.json.
