Product received for free In this indie game there are important pieces of the most recent history of the UNITED states that still concern the whole globalized world. It is set right at the end of the last century and focuses on the transitional period between the old and the new millennium. The writing work is really remarkable. The assumptions of contemporary society Are highlighted: the increasing globalisation, the deregulation of the market, the advent of the Internet and the consequent financial bubble, the economy in the hands of speculative finance, the Arrivism Individual stifling social ethics, consumerism, Hedismo, the triumph of image and marketing on substance, governments in the pay of private interests, etc.
There is a rich gallery of characters actually existed in the caricatual version: Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Bush (Junior and Senior), Sean Parker (the inventor of Napster), Goldman (the Banker), etc.....; And there's no shortage of business music involution with the advent of DJ sets and disposable pop stars.
The title is very long, although it is only the first episode of a series; Two hours of multiple choice dialogues that open up to different alternative situations, a huge amount of characters to converse with, a tangled network of relationships, intrigue and happenings. Our avatar is a waiter whose life suddenly changes due to a fortuite encounter with a Republican Party senator; In a short time it is part of the world of politics and finance, riding the expansion of the Internet, cluttering friendships and exchanging favors in a world where image and arrivism count more than anything; Where even a waiter can get to be president of the USA.. And in fact this is our purpose!
The gameplay is not only based on multiple choice dialogues; To advance in our careers we will have to challenge the people who stand in our interests with rhetoric. So the discussions and negotiations turn into real Pokemon-style clashes, where the weapon is our mouth and the bullets our words in the form of captions! We will have a small arsenal of special "moves": offense, provocation, distraction, rhetoric, counter-argument, etc. etc. In The course of the game we can learn new techniques of oratory art and expand our "Arsenal" by addressing experienced psychologists at a fee, or through experience, with the fury of doing favors to our members, cultivate the friendships that matter, play in Bag, etc.. There is also a very original challenge to enchant an entire audience. In essence It is a question of guessing the political tendencies of the public, journalists, voters, etc... We Have two Cartesian axes, one that measures economic freedoms and the other individual freedoms; We have a handful of attempts to move a red dot on the Cartesian plane in order to intercept the right political coordinates of the audience. To Move the dot we must understand, going to trial, whether the public is more or less progressive or conservative, liberal or socialist, in favor of deregulation or social status, etc. There are of course different grades corresponding to the units of Axis measurement.
It is clear that we cannot expect very sophisticated and complex analyses, the historical-social-political-economic discourse is very simplified, but very effective in highlighting the load-bearing dynamics of that period, which then gave shape to the world Current. The Intent is critical but also mocking, not always take seriously.
The package is poor, typical of many indies; It may be unappealing because it is a narrative role-playing game that exploits almost static images in the ' 90 pixel style; The interface is reduced to the lowest terms and uses menus and windows, typical of management and strategic games; Even the storyline at the bottom is quite simple, based on career advancement to blows of arrivism, rhetoric, favors and marketing. Yet I have not been able to detach myself from the game, curiosity and themes have prompted me to continue; I arrived at the end of the first episode with the desire to go even further, it was also only to meet other characters and retrace the events of the most recent history or to reflect once more on the lack of ethics in the world of politics and Economy.
In The end I decided to report it on VGArt for the proposed content.
