Sherlock Holmes and The Hound of The Baskervilles reviews

I bought this game very recently during the Halloween sale on steam. And I finished it pretty fast (but not yet in difficult mode). It was released in 2010. Sherlock Holmes is contacted by Henry Baskerville. His uncle was the victim of the curse that struck his family and was allegedly killed by a dog of demonic origin. Holmes and Watson go to the Manor of the Baskerville family to try to know the truth about the whole affair... and also to stop the curse. If you want a game that follows the novel, go your way. The game takes only the basic idea that a big ugly dog kills the poor members of the Baskerville family, probably because of a curse. Besides, the game adds a lot of things that don't do Sherlock Holmes at all, like.... Oh well, sorts of magical powers and even trips in time. Magic exists. When I saw this, I was frankly puzzled in front of my screen. Then I let myself get caught up in the game. The goal of the player is to release from the curse each of the deceased members of the Baskerville family. To do this, we must find all the pieces of their coat of arms and when it is done, put them back under their table. Before that, the paintings are dark and sad and when it is done, they regain their original appearance and often give a useful object for the sequel. The game is a mix of hidden object scenes, puzzles and point-and-click where you have to find objects and interact with other objects. We often have to go back and forth between the past and the present. The scenes to the past are unlocked thanks to the heads of wolves present in most of the rooms of the mansion. Some puzzles are quite complicated so it is possible for the player to pass those that he fails to solve. During the game, we get various medals Awards (and steam successes) by doing some actions (like finishing 3 hidden object scenes and other...) As I said above, advancing in the game, we unlock various powers. The first is strength and there are five in all. It is quite strange but they are all very useful. The game is in English but the subtitles are in French. Big worries about synchronizing voices during cutscenes. Well, there are really only two... but it's not easy to follow. This is not a very good game Sherlock Holmes... but it's still a good game. I had a nice time playing (I put four hours to finish in easy mode), but I prefer the other Frogwares games. If you are not Sherlock Holmes purists, this game might please you. On the other hand, if you are... sincerely, go your way.
