Shin Samurai Jazz is a platform-adventure game. It combines the likes of film noir and samurai cinema, presenting them with 8-bit graphics, an electro-jazz soundtrack, and a comic/manga-like style creating a unique atmosphere.

Unlike it's predecessor, samurai_jazz, Shin Samurai Jazz features jumping mechanics inspired by chuunori, an old technique used in kabuki theatre to give the illusion of flying. It's combat mechanics consist of hacking and slashing with the ability to juggle enemies and perform mid-air combinations, also inspired by chuunori. While the adventure elements remain intact, the puzzles are more complex with varied level designs and enemy placements/attack patterns that make use of the game's mechanics.

  • Adventure through an 8-bit city and free it from it's pixelated nightmare
  • Chuunori inspired platforming with double-jumping, wall-jumping, and aerial dashing abilities
  • Perform attack combinations on land or in mid-air and juggle enemies to overcome their strategic placement and attack patterns
  • Solve puzzles that will test your platforming skills
  • Supports Xbox 360 controllers

Shin Samurai Jazz reviews and comments

Shin Samurai Jazz is an indie title developed by Blaze Epic. Belonging to the adventure-platform genre, combines a successful aesthetic that mixes different arts and styles, such as Black cinema with samurai. Graphically very attractive to the eye, colorist and pixel-art of retroesthetic 8bits. In Terms of sound it has an electro-jazz style music that completes the ambience of the streets and scenarios very well. Title more than advisable.

Second installment of the forgettable Samurai_jazz. It is slightly Above the first, but it is still very much a quality game. The mechanics will be the same as in its predecessor, although now the movements of our character will be somewhat more manageable and varied. And its difficulty in the levels of Plataformeo, Linda sometimes with the despairing. Graphically It is practically identical to the previous title. I mean, poor thing. And the music as forgettable as the one we enjoy with the first part. The story is still counted on scraps of phrases that more than explaining too much, we will be surprised by not contributing practically anything positive. The gameplay continues to scratch at a fairly poor level, and the difficulty has increased considerably (surely this has much to do with the first). In Short, the developer has taken his first work (of lousy invoice) and has added some insufficient improvement to create a second installment that is almost as forgettable as the first. NOTE: 5/10

Overall interest: ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ Shin Samurai Jazz is an indie or you take the role of a Ninja/Samurai to mix Super meat boy/Ninja Gaiden and follow it in a rather unclear story. A game that uses your reflexes more than your imagination to solve puzzles. To buy only under bundle cheap Indies. Graphics: ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ medium graphics, I first thought of the street of rage MegaDrive oldies, but there it is a little uglier. We are in the Middle Indies or the base is there but no more. Music/sound: ★ ★ ☆ ☆ it is one of the pretty positive sides of the app, the music is pretty good vibe. The sounds are much less, the sound of the Sabre stings the ears. Gameplay: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ game of skill that goes up pretty well in difficulty and offers its dose of challenge. Less playable than Super Softs like Ninja turtles on Super NES or Metroid. Here it is difficult to control, we tear the hair when it half bugasses in the air to look for the Hitbox. I think this game will clearly not attract speedsruners. Lifespan: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ I have not finished the game, but the lifespan is correct as it is necessary to cling to finish some levels. Question of patience...
