TLDR: If you are new to this game it's pretty addicting as you make a lot of progress. But once you reached early endgame it becomes very boring because gold has no value anymore and you have nothing to do but to wait for combining processes that take days ---------------------------------------------- First of all you should know that no real content has been released for this game for much more than 6 months. The devs know from the forums that their long term players are very frustrated due to the large amount of time they have to invest in activities that just don't pay out. So they always promise to add new quality of live features and new interesting content for the game... both of which haven't arrived for more than a half year now. Since May they have been telling you that "this month" it will happen. For more details why it's a waste of time just continue reading. If you start from scratch this game might be pretty interesting for you. There is a truckload of blueprints to unlock and you make progress every day. Sooner or later you are pretty much forced to find a city that allows you to join (or found your own) as you will need the support of others to upgrade the buildings in your city. The more advanced you are the more your progress slows down and as soon as your heroes reach level 40-ish the game starts to become very very boring and repetitive. Once you unlocked all the blueprints that are available via crafting chains you will hunt for treasure chest blueprints which is a very frustrating process: You have to pay Gems which are pretty much the real money currency in this game to open those chests. And this is like a bad lottery. You will get so much BS out of them that you'll really start to doubt if this crap is worth all your time and effort. Those gems are tradable on the one hand but on the other hand it takes you ages to get enough for opening a chest. And since every player is after the same goal, the market situation is just horrible. Nobody is interested in gold anymore. Another thing I'd like to mention is the fusion cauldron. It's a device that you use to melt down 2-5 items to upgrade them into a higher rarity. Once you do this with items that are over level 40 you'll have to wait SEVERAL DAYS (!!!) for the process to finish and of course the whole thing can fail.
