Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization reviews

Why not recommend this title? First of all, the game, although enjoyable to play, is not as exhilarating as one might hope. The mechanics of the game are well done but the level is quite high as soon as we start to choose levels of difficulties that we usually play at Civ4. In a global way, the game ends up being vexatious: does it feel like you've done really well? Well, no, we're far from the count, we'll hardly be going to start a revolution and take the King's attacks that will come after. A King who takes a clever pleasure in raising taxes very quickly from elsewhere and who ended up asking for a mirror tax, proportional to our gold reserve. You have been saving 30 laps to buy a specialist? Bim! 2000 in taxes required without warning and without delay! 10 laps later, while you spent your wealth well? 30 "tax... Ridiculous and completely illogical... OK, the Kings of the time were not really models of logic and coherence but for the gameplay, this creates a tension that I think is useless. But the most vexatious of all is the AI completely unpredictable: while I was filming the perfect love with an indigenous tribe, they start to attack me massively without warning and to completely break my part without yelling. Especially since they had a monstrous army... Completely illogical and frustrating. In fact enough to disgust me to continue playing while I was still enjoying the fun to replay this old title handed to the taste of the day... Damage. Bye, bye colonization... I will not come back, it is certain...

I can't help but with the many reviews that are being read about this game: the game is a very thorough update of one of the top strategy games of the 90's. Everything good with the game has been maintained and improved when needed. The reason why I don't give the game five stars simply depends on the time having run out of that type of game. But if you have spent a lot of time with the original colonization and have been devoted to how badly you treat the Indians to get riches, or have become quite angry at the home country's monarch who is shoeing to the pioneers, you will be happy to look at the game modern vintage. I bet the game on a 13-inch MacBook air (1.83 GHz, 4 GB RAM) and it runs smoothly. The fan goes on after a while, but otherwise it works fine.

No need to wait for a civilization in this game. Only the graphic engine of civilization IV was resumed to adapt an old game released in 1994! Hence the civilization IV in the title. The concept is simple, you choose a European nation and leave the conquest of America as in 1492 to the profile of the king corresponding to the chosen nation. You develop your colonies (trade, population, resources, diplomacy) until you can declare the independence of your colonies vis - vis the mother European nation. Expect then a landing of the European colonial forces in reprsaille. You will have to survive this step to win the game. This is an excellent remake of the game released in 1994. Notice to the nostalgic. So yes it lacks a good tutorial but there is an encyclopedia built into the game Force is to recognize that there is much to read for the nophytes and that it is not very catchy. But we must not take away the depth of play and the many strategic opportunities for developing colonies. This is not a wargame, it's a good management game reviewed graphically a point that's all. I love a point simply.
