Silence reviews

Disclaimer: I played the Game mostly offline, so the game time displayed is not correct. The Release of Silence ran completely under my Radar. Luckily, I happened to become aware through a Steamsale that it has now (finally) been released. EUR 30? Sounds fair and since I consider the first Part, The Whispered World To be one of the best adventures of Modern Times, I had to strike immediately. Well, now you can debate, but after I play through it, I think EUR 30 IS a little too much. The Effort involved in the Graphics, Sound, Animations, Etc. would certainly be worth more, but unfortunately the Game time is disappointingly short. On the one hand, this is because there are not as many Places as in the first Part and they are also much more compressed. On the other hand, the Game can only be described as "adventure" With a lot of Goodwill. It's unfortunately very streamlined and more reminiscent of Games like the Episodes of Telltale. That's what I'd call more of an interactive Story. You never have to think big and the current Scenery is always limited to 1 or 2 Screens. The Loading Times are amazingly long. Now you can see the streamlining of the Puzzles positively or negatively. Certainly it is not a Bad Thing to prevent something Idle by "not getting on" or to try new Mechanics in general, on the other hand this shortens the stay in the Places so enormously that the Playing Time suffers as a result. Unfortunately, the Characters fall a bit flat as a result, only Renie and Noah have more "Screentime," the other Characters work out, but ultimately only serve as gap Fillers and don't really contribute much to the Story. To the Story (spoiler-free): You should have played the first Part to understand some Allusions or actually the complete Plot. Certainly it goes without, but I would guess you're missing something. Unlike the first Part, the Story is transported rather more sober, grown-up, the cynically depressed Humour sadly lacking, but would not have worked so well either. More Emphasis is placed on Emotions, but there are no big Surprises (for Connoisseurs of the first Part). The Graphics and the Sound, on the other hand, top the Predecessor a lot. But if I'm honest, I would have liked a slightly longer game after-I think-7 Years, instead of a Designer Artwork showcase. I hope that we can therefore understand the Decision to make the poor Assessment. Connoisseurs and Fans of the first Part can certainly invest the 30 EUR, but it should be clear that there is no Surprise except for the Optics and Sound. Newcomers should get the first Part for I think EUR 10.
