Solar Flux reviews

Solar flux is a game that requires reflection, skill and perseverance. The pitch is simple: thanks to our aircraft, we have to recover energy balls and send them on dying Suns. Through 4 galaxies, offering in all 77 levels (including bonus levels) + 5 of Tuto, this principle is declined in a very wide variety of gameplay that makes the routine never installs and that the challenge is always present. Depending on the levels, the score is counted on the basis of the time, fuel consumed or damage to the ship's shield. Depending on the performance, we are assigned from 1 to 3 stars and obviously it takes a minimum number of stars in a Galaxy to unlock bonus levels. Already, having to play according to the levels by prioritizing speed, putting the priority on the fuel economy or taking care to take a minimum of damage brings a very big difference in the style of play and the developers could have satisfied themselves with make a Galaxy on every principle. But fortunately they have preferred integrated many other elements, including: the shield gauge can go down to zero if you stay too long in a hostile zone and detonate the ship (it automatically goes back to safe areas), the ship can be deprived of propulsion if the fuel tank is empty (possibility of filling it in the starting station or in a possible other base elsewhere in the level), one must contend with blowers from certain stars (those that one bombards with energy but also others spontaneously), one must contend with the fact that one can find itself automatically in orbit around most celestial bodies, one must sometimes sneak into an asteroid field, there are sometimes meteorides that destroy everything on their trajectory, black holes that suck everything that passes nearby, mines that explode if we hit them or that we stay too long in the vicinity, stars that emit a deadly radiation which one must protect one putting in the "shadow" of another object. Not to mention that there are often several Suns to power energy but just enough marbles for all and that it is necessary to be careful not to give too much to one and to miss for others. It is therefore in each level to think carefully about the best strategy, to show address in the realization and to cling to finish the level and especially to improve its score to get the 3 stars and access to the bonus levels. The landing to pick up the 3 stars seems to me really very high and most of the players will not make it without a large number of attempts. By its dimension die & retry and its scoring aspect (online ranking), the title offers a great replayability for those who feel ready to take up the challenge. A final word for the Zen aesthetic, from the pleasantly colorful space to the hovering music, which brings a welcome contrast with the hard work that sometimes needs to be shown to improve its score. Really a very good game in its genre.
