Soundwave Surfin'
About
IMPORTANT: This game was designed with the use of a Wii Balance Board in mind for its control scheme.
Soundwave Surfin'
Using your body and voice, can you navigate the surf? Avoid crashing into the dunes. The faster you impact with them, the more damage you will take. Shoot for faster and faster times.
Made for Homework 6 of Experimental Game Design at RPI (S23). The prompt was "Weird Input".
Controls:
- Using a Wii Balance Board,
- Lean to the right/left to move forwards/backwards
- Lean forward/backward to rotate left/right
- Use a microphone to apply a movement force. The volume of the received audio will determine the amount of force. The louder the audio, the more force that is applied.
Wii Balance Board Drivers:
- As this game requires the used of the Wii Balance Board, you many need to install the drivers to use the Wii Balance Board with your laptop. I used the drivers that can be installed with HID Wiimote, developed and published by Julian Löhr, which can be found here: https://www.julianloehr.de/educational-work/hid-wiimote/. This required me to put my laptop into "Test Mode".
Music (from freemusicarchive.org):
