Spelunky reviews

I can see how some people would like it but I’m not liking it that much yet. Hopefully it grows on me. I wish there was more character upgrades. There are minor upgrades and items but mostly it’s just a unique platformer. Which I think it does a good job at but it may not be for me.

Im probably going to debate retiring this game for awhile. I want to progress the game and see if it grows on me. But it’s the type of game where it’s all just player skill progression. There is nothing that carries over between runs and I am getting better but the thought of surviving through 16 levels seems insurmountable (I looked up how many levels). I hope something clicks and I end up liking to more. I have to get in the mindset that’s it’s about getting out. Not about getting resources or items.

Nah I’m not feeling it. I need more. I can see how a platform lover would like it. But I don’t. The second is on gamepass. I’ll give that one a go someday and see if it clicks more but I don’t need to spend any more time trying to like this game. I’ve gave it 4 hours which I think is enough.

Final Score: B-
12/10 - A MASTERPIECE!!!

If the Level between Frustration, Negligence and masterful Jumpskills strolls back and forth and puts you in afrotizing Climes, so it would be practical to play with short Pants or a Skirt, then that's probably the Game that's not in your To-Play list Missing must. Spelunky Is a classic Platformer in traditional SNES fashion. The Controls are extremely pleasant and simple, the Content ' complicates ' over time. So there are a Number of Items to Help you get on-others don't become relevant until later In The game (if you live that long). Over Time, you unlock Shortcuts to skip some Levels. This can be beneficial to you, but it can also be Detrimental. The Unlockable Characters are quite cute, but do not offer any technical Advantages. Items and Enemies can be sacrificed. Collect Gold to buy Items or just steal them and escape from the Crazy With the Shotgun, who runs after you like a Rabbit on Speed and brumbies as if he wasn't worrying about Ammunition. (Hint: He has an infinite amount of Ammunition and doesn't have to reload.) To put it briefly: Recommendation, Recommendation, Recommendation.

A very good game, always fun to play, whether it be solo or co-op, with a well-dosed difficulty. The game is punitive, but without being unfair: If one dies, it is that one was too reckless, or not careful enough. We discover the new traps and enemies (often in pain), we understand how they work then we adapt, in short we learn from our mistakes. Unlockable shortcuts allow you to practice in more advanced worlds. There is also a very good management of objects and money, with choices to make: "I buy this now or I save to buy this Super item later?", "do I have enough bombs/ropes for the sequel?", "I keep this Boomerang or I take this pisto-canvas?" , "I remain fair to the merchants or do I play it off the law even if I may regret it later?" Finally, it remains to deal with special events (level in the dark,...), choose the best paths to reach the exit before the arrival of the phantom ("I'll get this chest/box/damsel/treasure or I have no time?"), discover the secret levels, fill the log (places/monsters/objects/traps) then finally make the best score possible/finish the fastest... Or play stupidly in Deathmatch. In short, full game with a very good lifespan, at present 33h of game, I reach only hell. For those who would still be afraid of a difficulty too great, my 7 year old nephew manages to follow me without too much problem until the temple cursed after only 1h of play.

This game requires a lot of skill. It is very hard and demands lots of time to master. But at the same time the game is very rewarding for that you have this feeling that you achieved something nearly impossible. Overall this is a small but great and challenging game that will bring you lots of fun.
