Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
About
Sphinx and The Cursed Mummy is an original 3rd person action-adventure inspired by the mythology of ancient Egypt. Travelling the world via magical portals to foil the evil plans of Set. Sphinx's Journey will require all his wits, agility, and special powers. He will also rely on his reluctant hero friend, The Mummy, to help when being inconspicuous is the only solution. By finding the stolen magical crowns of Egypt, Sphinx can stop Set and save the world.Features:
The legend says that two forces, one negative, one positive, are trying to recover the old empire and all of its crowns again. But we know very little about these forces or if they really exist. Other people are simply trying to understand what happened and the real nature of each world. Meanwhile each world continues with it’s own way and history.
Recently, strange things have been happening… News is received from many places that problems are appearing; the normally peaceful villages are now at war, odd monsters appear in valleys where there was once placid ecology... Nobody knows why…
The chain of communication between the worlds remains partially abandoned, partially destroyed and so unstable that to use it is a sure way to cause even more problems and dangers. A long time ago the Great Wall in Heliopolis was built to protect the civilians. Many people have used the portals but disappeared without trace. For this reason you never know how you will be received in any of the locations or if you will get anywhere at all.
- Use Sphinx and his increasing array of skills to face deadly mythical monsters while avoiding perilous traps with acrobatic ease. Weaken enemies and use capture beetles to store and unleash their abilities at will.
- Take control the Mummy when strength & combat skills aren't needed — use the Mummy's stealth and unconventional antics to avoid enemies, solve puzzles and sabotage right under the enemy's nose.
- Interact with hundreds of unique and imaginative creatures, enemies and allies.
- Fantastic graphics bring this mythical world based on Egyptian legends to life.
- Totally immersive storyline and epic gameplay.

Zelda killer?
At the time, the Game was advertised as a Zelda killer. I'm a big Zelda fan. Still, to this day, I never played "Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy." Good thing I've been able to make up for this ON PC now.
A great Port as long as you play with the Controller! 21:9 resolutions are also supported.
It takes a bit to Get the Game going, but after 2 Hours I had the first aha moments. Great Puzzle design and good Game Mechanics. In some Cases, the Game is not even so easy.
Unfortunately, the Scope and Complexity does not extend to a Zelda.

Only recommended with Gamepad. You can also play it with the Keyboard but this is a Spasm and you can't change the Keyboard Assignment and you can't see it either. Each Button to check what function it has Is nauseous for a Port. Nevertheless, I used to have this Game on the XBOX AND loved it despite a lack of Voiceover. Therefore, it was a spontaneous dutiful purchase when it appeared for the PC. Although it's already old and the Textures are dusted in 2017, it still has a fascinating Pull Effect. Can fully recommend it to anyone "with a Controller." I would advise everyone else against a Purchase. Maybe Nordic Games is improving.

I thought the Game was great even then, when I had still pulled it on the Gamecube, even if the Graphics weren't the Nicest. Now as a Pc Version with revised Graphics, it's even more Fun.
The Characters are beautifully designed. I have some Favorite Characters there, but what I like most is the Look of Sphinx and the Humour of Tut.
The Puzzles in the Game are also relatively simple if you know how to do it and the Combat System is already well worked out for this Time. I would recommend the Game to any Zeldafan Because it was the same Studio and combines many Gameplay elements with it.
But also People who generally feel like playing like This.
However, it is a real shame that there was no second Part, because the End was unfortunately quite open.
For me, just a pretty successful Game that would definitely merit another Part.

Has it really been 14 Years since I played this Game? Never thought To see Sphinx and the Mummy again, and so it was a wonderful Surprise when I discovered the Game here at Steam. I can only say that, despite the Age, it still looks good and is as much Fun as it was then. If you Enjoy Puzzles, like to think about a few Corners and want to have platforming and action elements, you can't do much wrong with this Game. Add to that a great Soundtrack, two lovable Main Characters and (especially on The Mummy's side) some of the most oblique gameplay ideas I've ever come across. However, I would recommend a Controller because the Control is definitely designed to do so. But Since the Devs are very active and take Problems and Suggestions of the Players really seriously, it can be different by now. The Devs "Enthusiasm and Dedication actually makes me hope for a Sequel, too. Or to other Games we've all seen before in the Graveyard of Incompatibility.
Thank you THQ Nordic for this Reunion with an old Friend. :)
