Succubus Rem reviews

Third part of a trilogy whose identity is recognisable at first glance, "succubus rem" is once again a winning ticket for Sakura games and their little developer rogue who does not hesitate to pump graphics and sounds of his games precedents (which themselves were stolen from other indie games on the Japanese market). After "Elise the devil" and "Dark Elf", "succubus rem" completes this list of games whose design amateurism does not erase the real pleasure of playing for a ridiculous price. This game, but also the others mentioned above, perfectly stick to this definition of "little game" which, despite its imperfections, will keep you busy yet many hours. Let's move on to the story: our young and innocent succubus is going to travel the world and accomplish what its deep nature requires: to bang everything that will cross its path enthusiastically. A soldier? Check. An ORC? Check. A carnivorous plant? Check. A log of wood. Re-check. We've been around the owner. In my previous criticism, I had emphasized how the lack of finishing could sometimes spoil the pleasure of playing and make the progression in this type of game difficult. It seems here that the developer has become aware of the shortcomings of his previous productions and offers a clearer and nicer interface: 1) we can finally play with the mouse which now avoids a juggling, admittedly not very difficult, but little elegant with the keyboard. Especially when one of your hands... is busy reading Proust's integral. 2) the fights are no longer randomly generated which made the progression tedious in "Elise the devil". Here we can choose combat or avoidance, which is strongly advised when some situations are too perilous. 3) the fights are well dosed: neither too easy, nor too unfair, they combine the best in the other two games of this category. 4) full-screen mode is simply accessible from the world by enlarging the window: it's silly but some developers don't seem to have a common sense. 5) it's a Festival of hentai and bestial Groupsex on every street corner. I particularly recommend the patch for this purpose in order to enjoy the spectacle optimally. Don't share screenshots on the other hand: we know very well that steam has as much humor as a provincial Catholic notary. 6) trading cards are planned later. Trademark of this series of games, the English translation is appalling, stuffed with faults and, as usual, Japanese sometimes comes to mix in dialogue without warning. It's not much of a nuisance, though, most of the time.
