Sunless Sea throws us into a fantasy world of "Unterzee" Victorian London. We own a Boat to travel the World, but the Ocean in front of the City is shrouded in eternal Darkness and populated by enemy creatures. The Game combines lengthy adventure and manager elements and whishes them away with an immediate Top-down discovery simulation on dangerous Seas, the gigantic Map of which is rearranged at every start of the Game.
The degree of Difficulty is high, the Powers merciless, the Money-making tough and every Departure risky, because the titanic Adversaries lurk everywhere on an open Ocean and behind Nebulae and Cliffs. Nevertheless, it is very fulfilling to explore the Sea and its Mysteries, sometimes to fight Pirates and Sea Monsters, to upgrade the Boat and hire capable Sailors, to reach distant Eilande and to listen to the Stories of the Inhabitants there. There is always a matter of attention to the Fuel and the Supply as well as the terror level of the Crew. If the Fuel Tides, progress becomes impossible; If the Pantry is empty, Cannibalism breaks out on Board; And when fear overwhelns the Crew, a Mutiny looms.
The Crossings, of course, do not only serve a Spirit of beautiful Spirit of Adventure, because soon numerous Commissions gather in our Logbook, which are waiting for their Fulfillment; Be it the Handling of passenger or Goods transports, the Exploration of Ports for the English Admiralty, The finding of Secrets and Treasures or the Processing of small Favors for sounding Spelunx Guests and sinister Port Boulders. If our "Zailor" dies, and this will happen sooner or later, the Game is not over; Instead, the Equipment, Money or previously uncovered Map can be passed on to the Ancestor, who in turn has to drive out to prove himself on grisly Seas.
The Game is only available in English and is extremely read-heavy. Those who have their Problems with the Language should circumnavigate this Product extensively. The Texts, which are especially waiting for us in the Harbours, celebrate some original Vocals and are written in poetic-upscale ductus, which gives the game the Special Touch Of a bygone Era. In Fact, ancient Semiotics fits perfectly with the Soul of maritime Folklore over distant shores and rumored Sailor yarn over horrific Sea Monsters.
Sunless Sea is an idiosyncratic Genre mix and certainly doesn't meet everyone's taste, but certainly represents a little Insider tip for patient Skippers. The Explorers are worthwhile, even if the Terror of the Sea promises an early Sailor's grave.

Nice atmosphere with many (sometimes bizarre) storylines that are particularly well written. Very addictive

Already played it on PC and it's awesome! Unfortunately there're black borders on all sides while playing on the new iPad Pro 11" :( Please update!

One of the most beautiful games in the whole store. Absolutely to buy for anyone who loves video games and quality plots. I hope the dlc Zubmarineer will also come out.

I already played the game on the PC and fell in love with the mysterious, dark character of the game.
If you want to get involved in the world and read the English!) Texts you will be taken away into a completely absurd dangerous (Permanent Death) and at the same time extremely multi-layered story.
I've probably spent 50 hours with the ipad version and have not found any serious bugs yet. Anyway, the game saves every minute what makes me at least smaller bugs more accurate.
The controls are moderately complicated or demanding. You steer your ship from port to port, take orders, negotiate or explore the rather big, gloomy world of the Underzee.
In my opinion, the control and the fights here rather accessory to the story and not the other way around.
Compared with ipad / computer, I have to say that the controls are better suited to the touch display than to the keyboard and mouse.
Price-performance-wise, Sunless Sea is quite expensive at first BUT: the game is huge, I've spent a total of determined 150 hours and still not discovered a good part of the world (towards the end without Wiki synonymous quite difficult ^ ^)
This is the whole a port of a PC game and no 0815 Ipadspiel in between. Here was invested a lot more time and effort than in the usual scrap for 1-2 euros, before you can hardly save! Overall, I'm very happy with the game, but I have to tell everyone that this is storytelling, not jump and run games of skill. Take a look at the trailer or a review on Youtube before you strike, then it is less likely that you buy something that you do not feel like
