Super Hydorah

Super Hydorah is a beautiful tribute to the old school SHMUP of the late years 80 (Gradius, Darius, R-type...) It offers a varied armament, several possible routes and a challenge raised, without being frustrating. Positive points:-perfect controls. The ship is very handy, we have an autofire that will avoid joint pain. -the arming system that is recovered as the missions allow a gradual ascent of the ship which is very aggregable. We are not at the Max of power from level 2 as in Gradius. -the difficulty is gradual. Each game is just outside our comfort zone and we are progressing a little more. -the music is of good quality, some are even excellent. -the dead are punitive but not too much; We lose a part of his armament but we do not find "naked". -the game recognizes the exotic controllers (my PS1 controller with USB adapter is recognized at first glance). -the game is hard but not frustrating, every death is perfectly understandable. It does not seem to survive by a stroke of luck (as in Gradius) but rather to die because of an error of placement or non-anticipation quite identifiable. The neutral points::-the graphics are pretty without being breathtaking. Some decorations are quite empty (but on the other hand it allows a good legibility) and sometimes of uneven quality. -Some weapons seem to me quite anedoctic (like the loaded shot) but maybe I have not enough dug the game. Negative points:-one backup at a time. If one is near the end of the game, impossible to start a new part without losing all its progression. -No online leaderboard (unless I missed something). On the other hand, scoring is not particularly developed so it's not very serious. -no training mode as can be seen on the cellar portages. But at least this requires to do it "old fashioned" and we withdraw a satisfaction to pass all levels, even in "credit-feed" in summary, the launch price at €12 was very interesting. At 20 balls, I recommend it for the nostalgic of Gradius, you will not regret your investment. For others, put it in your wish list and wait for a promotion, it's worth a try. And in any case, test the other games of Locomalito (Maldita Castilla, in particular)!

Super Hydorah brings classic arcade action from the arcade era of the 80s to your home screen. Enter your Spaceship And really heat up the alien enemy. Fans of Gradius or R-Type will immediately recognize the unmistakably similar graphic style, as the Developer sees his Game as a Tribute to the great Classics of the Shoot ' em up genre. The total of 21 Stages of the Game, which you have to clean of enemies, you can play through either alone or together with a second player ship in Co-op mode and resort to a large Number of unlockable Weapons, Power-ups and hidden Extras. These should at least make your Life a little easier for you against all sorts of Enemies, including the typical Boss opponents within the Level. A Special Feature besides all the classic Features is that you can select the Levels for a large Part freely. The horizontal action ballery is powered acoustically by a synth soundtrack, which is supposed to perfectly Submarcate the Action with more than 60 Tracks. The Degree of difficulty is set relatively high, similar to many 80s role models, and only something for experienced Gamers. Even genre experts will die numerous Deaths. So a certain Frustration is a Prerequisite Here. Fortunately, the Game offers a continuous function, as you know it from the glorious 80s. The Control via both Steam Controller and Xbox One Controller is absolutely precise and accurate. The Pixel graphics are lovingly animated and as an additional Icing can be selected in the Settings from 3 different Graphics Modes (including 4:3 with CRT scan lines) to improve the retro feeling. Of course, the almost obligatory Steam features such as Achievements and Trading Cards are also available and further enhance the Gaming Experience. 9/10 Points from my Side for this timiled but never unfair shoot ' em up and also at this Price a clear Buy recommendation from my Side!!!
