Supreme Ruler: The Great War is an Offshoot to the current Supreme Ruler: Ultimate, offering new Launch times in 1914 and 1917. I don't want to write Much about the Game Mechanics and Content itself. Even the Detour To World War II, with Supreme Ruler in 1936, was not quite as satisfying. Bad Balancing, overwhelmed AI and not well-researched historical Connections led to a less exciting Gaming Experience than at Supreme Ruler 2020 or Ultimate. This Setting, in turn, can be better for others (Hearts of Iron). Well, and what can I say. Were my Reservations about The Great War justified? Would say Yes and No. For one thing, there are some really good Improvements: Rail Transport, For example! At last! But This (much-needed) feature has now also found its Way into "Ultimate." Furthermore, in line with the first world war setting, there are more Types of Entrenches and Ditches. Also beautiful are the many new Unitary Graphics: Double-decker, Zeppeline and German pickle pat infantry. Hurray. What was to be feared is that AI cannot handle such slow and static Warfare. Alternatively, there are the same Start dates without Events, as a pure Sandbox, so to speak. Here you can try peacefully to avoid all trouble or break New Ground in history. One More point would be in it if the Music wasn't so underperforming in subparent. You can also play through from 1914 to the distant Future. All Techs up to the Middle of the 21st century are included. If you plan to do this, you should start with Ultimate (Start Date 2017 or 2020).
