SynthRails

DESCRIPTION:

SynthRails was a project I worked on for a mobile development class in my university. This was essentially my first dive into exploring mobile features found in the Unity game engine, so it was the main focus of the development of the game. This was an old project, so unfortunately some of the libraries and services used (facebook, ads, notifications, asset bundles) were either incompatible with the latest version of Unity I used to rebuild the game or were locked out of an old account I was using to use those services. However, I was still able to refactor most of the game so it can be built for Windows, Linux, and WebGL.

GAME RULES:

Dodge enemy attacks and kill the boss that spawns after two minutes in each level. Match the color of your ship/bullets with the enemy that you want to hit in order to deal damage to it. When you run out of health, you lose.

PC CONTROLS:

• WASD - Moves player ship
• Left Mouse Button Click and Drag - Rotates ship towards cursor to an extent for better aiming
• Right Mouse Button Click - Change color of the ship
• Q/E - Do a aileron barrel roll as a quicker way dodge attacks

MOBILE CONTROLS:

• Touch and Drag Left-Side of Screen - Summons joystick and moves player ship
• Touch and Drag Right-Side of Screen - Summons joystick and rotates ship based on joystick for better aiming
• Swipe Horizontally - Change color of the ship
• Quickly Tilt Device Left/Right - Do a aileron barrel roll as a quicker way dodge attacks

NOTE:

Game was intended to be played on android devices. Non-android builds of the game do not include the ff:

• Different Orientations
  
  • In the android build, the game can be played both on landscape and portrait, with the UI adjusting itself based on the orientation (although, the game was designed and intended to be played on landscape mode)
