TacCom
About
You are in command of a ship of the Terran Ally Coalition fighting a battle against the mysterious Civilization Of Malice. Do what you can, Commander, to cripple or destroy the COM ship and bring TAC to victory!
Protect your Bridge and EngineeringIn TacCom, your ship is comprised of multiple components such as your Bridge, Engineering, Sensors, Propulsion, Maneuvering Thrusters, and Ion Lance. The first two of these components are the most important. If either your Bridge or Engineering are destroyed, you ship will be crippled and considered destroyed.
TacCom is far from polished. There may be many bugs I was unable to remove. While the game is playable, how the game determines damage may not be obvious and victory (or defeat) may appear sudden. I do hope you enjoy the game for what it is, however, and thank you for playing!
- The Options button on the main menu does nothing. Sorry. Forgot to remove before I had to submit.
- You can enter "cursor" mode by pressing the tilde (~) key on your keyboard, and exit it by pressing escape.
- When in "cursor" mode, you can navigate the map with..
- W - Up
- S - Down
- Q - Left Up
- A - Left Down
- E - Right Up
- D - Right Down
- You bring up your ship's interface with the "W" key
- Each ship component can be accessed by pressing the "<" and ">" buttons on either side of the ship interface.
- The top of the ship interface shows the three ship compartments (from left to right: aft, mid, fore). The one highlighted in yellow is the compartment the currently selected component is attached to.
- If either you Command or Engineering component is destroyed, your ship will be crippled and you will loose.
- Pressing this symbol will command your ship to engage forward thrusters. The first number is how many cells you will move. The second is how many turns until you move.
- Pressing the Maneuvering engines will bring up a cursor. Select a cell in the direction you wish to turn, then press "Enter" or "Space" on your keyboard. You can cancel the maneuver by pressing "escape" or by selecting a cell directly ahead of your ship.
- Pressing the Ion Lance will bring up a cursor. Select your target and press "Enter" or "Space" on the keyboard. You can cancel the Ion Lance by pressing "escape" or by selecting an empty cell.
- Pressing the Sensors will enable your long-range view for a turn.
- After making your commands, press the "E" button on the top right of the ship interface to end your turn.
