The Consuming Shadow reviews

I never liked rogue-like (even Faster Then Light!), but I liked this game. You have 60 hours to stop an Ancient from plunging our world into eternal darkness. To do so, you must perform the banishment ritual, but you don't know which runes are needed for this same ritual. So you have to hit the road, travel to different cities, find clues in dungeons filled with danger, and time is still running out. The graphics are correct, but they fit well with the Lovecraftian atmosphere. The music is also good. Recommended.

With "The Consuming Shadow," Yahtzee, best known for "Zero Punctuation," delivers a minimalist but artisanally good and atmospherically magnificent horror Rogue-elie title. The Title sets lovecraft-esque Horror, which is carried by the good Soundscape, the good Soundtrack and the excellent lyrics (only available in English). The Graphic, on the other hand, is minimalist but coherent. The Gameplay consists of leaving Places in Britain under time Pressure. Either you make Decisions along the way in interesting Encounters (the Results of which are not always the same), replenish your Supplies in safe Cities or enter Dungeons in shadow-infested areas to make the Runes for each Pass varying, necessary Banner ritual and the God to be banished. Of course, you also fight Monsters with The help of Pistols, Melee and magic and l00tet what the Stuff holds. It's Fun to figure out the Vulnerabilities of some Opponents, but the System itself isn't very demanding. Since "Eternal Darkness," Horror à la Lovecraft has included the Groin With mental Health in games. Spells damage the Mind as well as traumatic Experiences in Encounters and Escape from Monsters. Insanely, the Player not only has nice Hallucinations, but also has to resist the Urge to kill himself: Decisions are replaced at short Intervals by Suicide Squads. If you Click on them by Mistake, you have to fight to try to shoot yourself in a simple but more difficult quicktime event. Of course, with a Rogue-like after the first Pass (about 30-120min) you don't see the best of the many Ends. The Title thrives on its Replayability and, in addition to the obligatory level system, Drives Up a lot: Unlockable Characters, challenge modes, daily challenges, an Endless dungeon, scattered story snippets and a Bestiary. Already in open Beta, the Title fixed me again and again and in the finished Version "The Consuming Shadow" for Friends of atmospheric Roguelikes or of Yahtzee's "chzo Myth" his Money is definitely worth it. If you want to see the Game in Action, you will find a Video commented on By Yahtzee himself on Youtube, and on the other hand, I have made myself a bit through a short Round of "The Consuming Shadow." I show one of the free-to-play characters at the Beginning, otherwise I tried hard not to reveal too much: ' N bit of L00ten?: The Consuming Shadow
