The Endless Journey reviews and comments

The Endless Journey BY YETU GAME Story The plot is inspired by the Story of the Bremen city Musicians [de.wikipedia.org] of the Brothers Grimm, but only rather crudely. In general, the Plot can be described as a Fantasy story that deals strongly with dark Magic and picks up Elements of Fables. What's most Interesting is how the Story is told. Because apart from a few Passages in which the Characters converse, all Communication and also the advancement of the Story Takes place in Speech Bubbles, which are, however, filled only with Pictures. This leaves the Player's Imagination with significantly more Freedom than in other Point & Click Adventures. Otherwise, the Story is built up quite slowly and carefully, so that you also have Time to get to know the Characters a little more. The Main Character is clearly Cosette, even if you are allowed to play Your "Father" Valjean from time to time. Gameplay Controlled the Game completely with the Mouse. You click to a Place and the Character moves there, picks up an Item or talks to the Person. Even the Inventory and the Menu are opened by Clicking on the corresponding symbol, Quick Buttons I could at least not find any, which I personally find unnecessarily cumbersome. To move forward in the Game Puzzles need to be solved, which very often means that Items need to be collected. Unlike other Genre representatives, however, these cannot be combined, which makes the whole thing much easier. For many Puzzles (E.g. the Clock Points) you can find Note Slips, which give you clues. This is also the big Weakness of the Game. Without looking at you a Walkthrough, you won't be able to do it. Unless you can read Chinese Characters. The Notes are up-to-date (08.04.2018) and are not translated by the Game. However, there is an EnglischBeta Of the Game that Fixes the Problem, an Update so that it also runs in the normal Version is in The works according to Developers. How you get to the EnglischBeta is further down in a Comment from the Developer and in The Forum of the Game. There are also Tasks besides the actual Action and a few Decisions you can make. These then affect the End of the Game. Graphics In the Film Sequences and when the Characters are displayed large, you can admire a successful, very detailed and colorful Anime Graphic. The Game itself presents itself a bit more Western or Comic-like but equally colorful. Where the Game, especially towards the End, also shows that it can do different and is getting gloomier and gloomier. In both Cases, the Graphics manage very well to bring the Atmosphere over. I just think it's a Pity that there is no Gallery for the individual Event pictures. Sound The Setting is very successful. The Pieces of music fit the respective Places and Situations and range from cheerful music to oppressive Pieces. The Characters are set to music in Chinese in the Movies and Conversational Passages. I usually find something like that ok but in this particular Case it bothers me. When Characters with ur German Names, like Hans, speak in an Asian Language, in my Eyes that's not really coherent and to some Extent breaks the Atmosphere. Conclusion Overall a nice Point & Clicki with interesting Ideas, a nice and well-told story and lovable Characters. For Genrefans and all those who like to solve Puzzles to recommend. With the EnglischBeta, The Endless Journey is quite playable and I very much hope that the normal Version will be revised soon. The Price is still a bit high in my Eyes. For €7.50 (i.e. at a 25% Sale) I would get it at any time.
