The Fear Ritual

Not all internet horror stories are made up...

Kiyoko can read people's emotions. It's not always clear, but she can  usually understand what she's feeling. But there's one person she will never read: her best friend Sayuri. Kiyoko has been in love with Sayuri since they first met, and she fears rejection. Why intrude on her inner most thoughts when she could well be getting ready to turn Kiyoko down, right? It'd be even worse now that Sayuri is dealing  with being dumped by her girlfriend by shutting her friends out!

But, Kiyoko has an idea.   Sayuri loves ghosts and urban legends.   So, what better way to cheer her up than to invite her, their friend Yuji , and his boyfriend Haru to sneak into their school on a Saturday night and perform an internet fear ritual?

But...not all internet horror stories are made up....and Izanagi, the Lord of the Flickering Flames, may prove to be all too real.

A note from the creator

Hi everyone! Thanks for checking out The Fear  Ritual.  I started making games way back in my teens in the early 2000's. They were mostly spoofs, like my one-on-one  platform shooter, Snakes: 'Coz They're 'Arder Than Worms. Honestly, they were okay, but far from perfect. Then, after leaving high school, I found myself with far less time to experiment with game creation.

The Fear Ritual represents my first foray back into this. I chose to write a short, linear visual novel because my primary role right now is working as an author. I mostly write LGBTQ stories that mix genres, so you can expect more of that going forward, I'm sure. The main thing is though, this allowed me to maintain some familiarity with my current creative style while still embracing the fun of game creation.

I've left this as 'pay what you want' because, being so short, I wouldn't want to charge too high a fee. Please do consider donating though. I worked alone on this one, and I'm proud of how it turned out. Going forward, I'll get a little more experimental. :)
