About

Based on the sci-fi short story by Philip K. Dick, The Great C is a cinematic narrative set in the aftermath of an apocalyptic event. Featuring a thrilling storyline, stunning environments and a powerful soundtrack, the viewer is transported to a desolate landscape in which the remnants of humanity are ruled by an all-powerful supercomputer known as the Great C. Each year, the nearby village is forced to send a young person on a pilgrimage to appease the mysterious machine, a journey from which no one ever returns.

The Great C follows Clare, a young woman who finds her life upended when her fiancé is summoned for this year’s pilgrimage. Leaving the safe confines of her village, Clare must decide whether to accept the rules of her harsh society or fight against the oppressive powers that created it.

The Great C is a sweeping 30+ minute experience, developed from the ground up to push the boundaries of storytelling in VR.

The Great C reviews and comments

The Great C is a dark Short Film specially designed for VR (tested with the HTC Vive) Before we start, we select first how we want to see the Film, either with rigid or movable Camera. This is probably used to Prevent Motion Sickness. After that, it's off. The Film tells a dark Story, which I don't go into in more detail in order not to spoil anything. In Total, the Narrative lasts about 30 Minutes, which for the first time doesn't sound much at the Price. However, an excellent Presentation really awaits us here. Speaker, Music, Graphics, everything seems vocal and very professional. The Atmosphere in the Film comes across very well and the World around you seems alive. The gloomy mood of the Story becomes partly oppressive due to the Musical Accompaniment and you get Compassion with the Protagonist. Unfortunately, there is no Subtitle, so a certain Level of English Proficiency is a Prerequisite. I have not regretted buying and hope we will see even more great Film productions of this Kind. From the international Film festival in Venice directly to the VR! The Great C by Secret Location is a post-apocalyptic Sci-fi short story based on Philip K. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ (Blade Runner or Minority Report e.g.) Superbly told in Virtual Reality, it now transports the Viewer into that dystopian World of Philip K. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ An atmospheric Soundtrack And the oppressive Landscapes contribute a lot to quickly immersing yourself in this Film. I have not yet experienced an exciting Story with a dense Plot in any VR film like here. The Figures sometimes act a bit stiffly, like Dolls, but the respectable 3D style quickly lets you look over it and it doesn't stand out any further. Even unusual Camera settings in VR work amazingly well. In one Scene, we watch a Character from above as she climbs towards the Onlooker. I didn't feel any Disorientation or Motionsikness, despite the unusual Perspective. The Cuts between scenes are set very well. Even looking around the Scene, a Change of scene doesn't rip the Viewer Out of Immersion. For People with Motionsikness, there's still the Option to pick a Comfort Mode before the Film's start. The Film begins and we observe two Figures, father and Son. Both are on the Hunt. Not only Do they unhappily persecute a Deer, but they also make Acquaintance with a malignant human-like Being. The Meeting Does not take place without Consequences for the two and their entire Village has to suffer as a result. The Boy survives the Disaster and becomes a Kind Of priest of the Great C. The two Main Characters, Clare and Tim, Will then be introduced. We experience a little love Story where we learn a little more about the Background of the World, where People are monitored by the mysterious Great C. At the End of the emotion of The stir, however, there is again a rough Cut. Exactly during a solemn ceremony, Tim is chosen to contest the dangerous Pilgrimage to the Great C. No one has come back from which so far ... An absolute Must-See for VR fan fans! More dysotpic Reviews here: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/32170554/
