About

The Hat Man: Shadow Ward is an indie horror game by Game Mechanics. The developers state that the game is based on the true story.

Plot

Your daughter is diagnosed with dementia and is put in the Canton State Insane Asylum. Sometime later, you receive a letter from the asylum staff that she has gone missing from the Asylum. You set out to find her. Upon the protagonist's arrival, everything goes to hell. Electricity and communication with the outside world get cut off, and supernatural events occur. You have to get out of there.

Gameplay

The game's controls are usual for the first-person experience. WASD is used for moving, Q and E for leaning, with spacebar to jump and I bound for your inventory. There are no usable weapons present in the game. The only things the players often use are a flashlight, medkits, and some matches. One time in the game the players can use a fire ax to break a door, yet this event is completely scripted.

The premise of the gameplay is simple: avoid the mysterious Hat Man and the Shadow People that are encountered on your way out of the asylum. The game puts a heavy emphasis on using light sources to see your enemies. It is impossible to attack the enemies, as the players don't have any weapons at their disposal, so the only thing the players can do is to run away from the creepy creatures.

Have already Alluded to it briefly and the atmosphere of the Game and the History make a good first Impression, but I am disappointed with the German Translation. The Diary Texts often don't make Sense, which is why I had to switch to English. That has yet to be fixed.

Here you should be on the road quickly and be able to remember to some extent where you have been. It takes quite a long time before you can save-I don't find that passive at all with such a Game:-(-you quickly lose the Desire to play when you are constantly eaten by the Hat Man

Makes a lot of fun The Hat man is a little first person Horror Game. There are some jump scares, a grotto translated Story. That bothers little. Goal... Well the Goal is to somehow save his Daughter and so blabla. Rogue-like game. Who has buck. I was allowed to gruse myself and had fun doing it. :D

This Game is quite creepy and has some shock moments. These then run more or less through the whole Game. You hear Noises and nothing happens. Then suddenly a "Shadow" comes out of the Wall and you scream yourself terribly. Not for the Faint-hearted! + very good Sound + sufficient Graphics for such a small Game + Atmosphere + all Achievements in about 5 Hours-quite short-one-sided Gameplay (running and collecting journal pages) Recommend the Game anyway, as it already provides entertaining Entertainment.

A little Horror Game it should be, better than Outlast it should be and what is it now? Nix, at least as far as I understand it. At First you choose whether you want to be the Father or the Mother, ok I still go along. Then you go to a Hospital, ok I also go with. But then? You touch a Book and plyproof everything is dark, a Monster haunts you, but this is not a Danger at all, because after 2 Seconds of Running It just forgets you, sometimes Ignores you or is just Afraid of your Flashlight ... Just stupid. Then you also have to collect pages that bring nix and I still don't understand how I finish this Game, let alone get on. Every Aisle, every Room everything looks the same and hlot itself over and over and over and over, just great or not? And if then the Selbe stupid Jumpscare Comes again, with the same Rooms one does not scare himself from it. Luckily, I bought it for just 20 Cents in the Sale, even if it's not even worth the money, let alone the 10 Euros! Love developer, are you shamed? But never mind, just don't buy and keep living happily ever after.
