The Hero's Journey (maneki_mushi)

You are a hero; the Hero, in fact, who has just put an end to the Villain terrorising the island, ending your long quest. But you remember nothing of it; not the quest, not the woman claiming to be your fiancée, not your amazing deeds and immense riches. Five years have been wiped clean from your mind. When the Villain’s minions continue to cause trouble, you must travel once more, this time in search of your forgotten memories. But the more you remember, the less the stories ring true.

The Hero’s Journey is a visual novel/otome set in a medieval fantasy setting. It’ll feature two separate routes that, while following the same journey, will offer different choices and a different set of companions.

(three more companions will appear in Chapter 2, and one will be romanceable)

The demo currently has about 8k words and spans most of Chapter 1.

The full game will feature:

• six chapters and multiple endings
• a predefined protagonist with a past that is already written, but whose future is yours to  choose
• four love interests, three of which are introduced in the demo
• optional NSFW content
• two routes offering you a different approach to the same journey
• special choices and paths unlocked after finishing the game once

The demo has mentions of death, child abandonment, and violence. Some of the art depicts blood.

In the future, this story will feature several potentially upsetting themes, including explicit violence, mentions of sexual assault, human experiments… One route will allow the Hero to take actions that are morally reprehensible or outright cruel.
