About

The Invincible is a first-person Sci-Fi thriller set in a retro-future timeline. Waking up as a space scientist on a hostile planet, you embark on a mysterious mission to find the missing crew of your spaceship. Survival is a matter of your correct choices, taken whilst uncovering the secrets of the planet, bigger than anyone thought.

You are a scientist onboard an interstellar scientific expedition, suddenly thrown into a life-or-death rescue mission. Landing on a planet Regis III you have to find the missing crew members using some advanced space equipment, whilst relying on your brains and instincts to survive on the planet which quickly occurs to be unwelcoming. Soon you’ll discover that Regis III holds terrifying secrets which are uncovered while you’re piecing together the fate of your crew. And as you delve deeper into the mystery, you realise that perhaps you are not alone, and that some places like this planet are better left untouched. But it’s too late to turn back.

The Invincible reviews and comments

This was a great narrative adventure game with a good bit of character decisions added in. I love the 1960s sci-fi aesthetic of this game as well as the various designs of the vehicles and buildings. The game is beautiful and really captures that era of sci-fi. The story is good and interesting, keeping the players interest throughout. I think the voice acting for the two primary characters are very well done and have a good, realistic relationship. The gameplay for the most part is fine, on par with what you'd expect from a FPS walking simulator type style of game. It can get a bit tedious with exploring depending on how far you need to go or if you need to backtrack. There was a few times later in the games when the vehicle disappeared and I was forced to walk instead. There were a few weird animation bugs I ran into as well as one with the vehicle where it kept playing a loud banging noise as if it was running something over. Overall I think this is a great game for any sci-fi fan and I'd love to see this team adapt another old sci-fi novel like they did with this.
[5/10] Invincible was a pretty big disappointment for me. It's possible that this type of game is simply not for me. Although I've always enjoyed interesting walking simulators, the slow pace of the gameplay and the rather quickly striking monotony of the world you explore make it very difficult for me to even finish this short game. In addition, there are a lot of bugs that will force us to regularly reload the game. This is why I can only confidently recommend the game to fans of Lem's work, but I also recommend trying it a few months after release, when the developers fix all the problems with the game. It's possible that this type of game design was aimed not at gamers, but at teachers, so that they could eventually introduce this game as a supplement to the canon of school readings for kids. However, unlike This War of Mine, which can fulfill this function, here kids will be more likely to yawn with boredom and may even be happy to reach for the book itself.
