About

An old-school dungeon crawler with real-time combat.

The idea behind The Keep is very simple, to bring the essence and dark atmosphere of RPGs from the past for newcomers and fans of the genre alike.

In The Keep you will embark on a quest to explore caves and mines filled with monsters to slain and puzzles to solve underneath and surrounding tower of evil sorcerer. It won’t be easy, you will die. A lot!Features
  • An old-school first-person dungeon crawler with a modern twist.
  • Exploring and puzzle solving—the caves and dungeons are full of surprises. There will be deadly traps, elaborate mechanisms guarding secret passages, trapdoors and treasures with powerful weapons and supplies.
  • Real-time combat—a battle against enemies with a gesture based combat, but swiping horizontally or diagonally is not enough. Defeating enemies means that you have to break their defences hitting the upper or lower body or focusing on their head.
  • Every enemy requires different strategy and every weapon class offers unique combos.
  • Rune magic—you can rearrange runes on a 5×4 board and then chain them together to cast powerful elemental magic (Fire, Ice or Lightning). Runes are scarce but there are a lot of spells, so be careful to pick the right combinations.
  • 3 difficulties. The Keep will offer something for newbies in the genre, seasoned adventurers and for those who like to tackle with proper challenge—every difficulty level will have a Permadeath option.

StorylineMany have been mesmerized by the blue depths of the Crystals. Those who tried to control them became their slaves. The weak were killed and the strong broken. With ancient knowledge of magic rediscovered old terrors found their way into the Realm and a new nefarious wizard came into being.

While the Council hides behind thick stone walls and ignores the Darkness sweeping across the Realm a young warrior comes to face the wizard. He is certainly not the first one to do so...

Enter the Keep as an unsung hero on a quest to destroy the nefarious wizard Watrys. Explore the subterranean depths in this first-person dungeon crawler featuring real-time combat, a unique rune magic system, exploration, and puzzle solving. This game will awaken memories of what made old-school RPG dungeons so much fun to play while you fight, hunt for hidden treasures, and avoid deadly traps. Get to know your enemies, find their weaknesses, and crush them. Experiment with magic to discover powerful spells. Only the strongest will survive.

To defeat the seemingly undefeatable Watrys, you will need to level up your character and find powerful armor and weapons.

Do you have what it takes to stand against such evil?
Then don’t procrastinate and enter. The Keep awaits you...

Good Dungeon Crawler. I enjoyed a lot of Fun. Luckily on Easy was also feasible, the Puzzles weren't quite as extremely Heavy either. Graphic was just so ok, but much prettier for a Port from THE 3DS. The Game has 10 Levels, you can restart the Level if necessary. I also met a Savegamebug once (Level Restart went but), so in between you prefer to make a Copy of the Savega Folder on Windows users, otherwise you might have to repeat half an Hour or more. Somehow the whole Game has been ragging over my Mouse a Second, which has been especially disturbing when fighting, if you want to imitate special Attacks that are displayed in the 3x3 Field. In the Game, there is only one Character you can freely level up. You can't do Much wrong, other Games are much more unforgivable. The Steam Badge could, in Principle, be created by carefully grazing everything down. Permadeath could probably be dealt with with a Savegamecopia, only playing Through on Hart is then such a Thing. Whoever played Through Legend of Grimrock will certainly come here with it. The Game time is good and you get neat something for the Money. Conclusion: Absolutely recommended despite minor Defects. Rating: 7.5/10

Musty Dungeons and dark Basement Vaults filled with Traps, Secret Hideouts, Skeletons and other garish Tichers have also given me enormous Appeal since a certain Bard told his Story. Whether The Keep, a dungeon crawler title that first appeared for Nintendo'S 3DS and has now been ported for PC and MacOS in 2017, had playful Surprises in store for me, read in the Following Lines: Dungeon crawlers aren't exactly for a sophisticated one Story known and Also The Keep there is no Exception: I am supposed to fight myself as an unnamed Hero up a ten-storey Fortress. Waiting on The top floor is the Villain, an obsessed Magician who captured me in The Tutorial and locked me in the bottom Dungeon. There is no Real Character generation, I have to take the predetermined Hero. This is only limited expand on Step ascent, spreading more than Points over three typical RPG attributes is unfortunately not in it, the fighting and Magic abilities increase automatically through Use. On the long Way up I gradually explore the Levels of the Fortress in ego perspective and fight against the Minions of the Magician Or various Monsters in Real Time by melee or special, combinable Run-spells, which over time are becoming stronger and more natural In classic Fashion deadly Traps, Teleportfields, Secret Rooms and various Puzzles contained in the Levels. When I Free Prisoners, they give me Tips or Items that are often necessary for story progress. New Weapons, Armor, Rings, Amulets or Spells I find only in the Levels or in killed opponents, traders do not exist any. Graphically, while the 3D environments look significantly better than the 3DS version, they can't compete with genre greats like a Legend of Grimrock at any Time. Unfortunately, there are also only 3 different graphics sets, the Game has only 10 Levels, but a little more Variety would have done the Whole thing good. My Conclusion: The Keep is a typical single hero dungeon crawler old School without shining with special Game features on PC. For hardcore fans who have already played all the major Titles of late, the Game could nonetheless shorten the Wait For new genre representatives.
