The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom reviews

An interesting take on the Zelda formula. Overall, I had a good time. The classic Nintendo cleverness is here and you'd expect, but I'm becoming more and more fatigued by the rotting world trope. There's always a black goo, a green poison, or a purple rift spreading over the land and trapping its inhabitants. It's a lazy replacement for creating memorable villains with actual pathos.

In the end, it's a good entry in the franchise, but not a great one. In a generation where we've become accustomed to getting great Zelda games, this lands somewhere between endearing and disappointing.

The score is a standout however, with the icy melody of the Lanayru Temple as my personal favorite.
