Fantastic and humorous Point-n-Click adventure, which at first Glance may act as a deterrent because of the outdated Graphics, but while Playing, it is definitely capable of the Player with his unique Narration and beautiful Locations, as well as his Inhabitants, in To pull his Spell. The more aesthetic Successors of the Game may be playable without major Problems if you haven't played The Longest Journey yet, but you gain another Dimension that makes the Sequel's Gaming Experience all the richer-especially when you meet old Acquaintances . You can quickly get started in the Game and get used to the pixel-like adventure framework world.

Together are The Longest Journey and the quasi Sequel TLJ: Dreamfall the best (point and click) adventures I've ever played. Even the funny Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle or serious Classics like Indiana Jones 3 + 4 can't keep up with that Story Depth and many German Adventures are downright hassle strokes in Comparison. Even current Indie Adventures don't really come up.
The Speakers are absolutely perfect and allow for a Drama like in a Movie. Dreamfall has better Graphics, but a more disabled Controller, but with such Games, this is just a Side Issue. Gameplay Elements are equally rudimentary and rare, especially in Dreamfall. But who needs that?
For Staging, Atmosphere and Storytelling 9.5/10

Graphics and Puzzle design from 2000 have unfortunately aged badly.
But what an Epic, wow! Even if you know the Way To solve it, you are busy for a good 25 Hours, and in time a complete Mythology is created in two different Worlds, with many Characters and Cultures, plus one that really does not have anything with classical fantasy and Scifi clichés have in common. And the Main Character, especially in the Original, is an astonishingly complex and diverse Figure.
TLJ could have been something like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings for the Gaming Market, but unfortunately it didn't go that way. "The longest Journey" is a very appropriate Title, because the Story is still not finished today, let's see what the Kickstarter project becomes.

Technically outdated and with insufficient Operation (there are no Hotspot Displays or Assistance) actually no Masterpiece. Puzzles are also relatively rarely sewn, but if you engage in Pixel Searches with "intelligent (context-sensitive) Mouse Pointer," are consistently logical. The Main Focus, however, is on the Game world. Mass, good to very well set, Dialogues, Heaps of scorch. Well-designed Locations and lots of Characters and Peoples. Each Character has its own Makings and often other Dialects. As an Adventure To Puzzle poor and Dialogue-heavy (to stay fair: They definitely degenerate too often) but as a Universe deep and ingenious. The Events are recorded in a nicely written Diary and April (Protagonist) is very sympathetic. A Remake would be worth Gold.
