The Maw reviews

When we play the first level of "the maw" we say that the game is nice but that the decorations seem a little too empty. At the second level we meet that we have to do more or less the same thing as the first. On the third... baby rebelote. At the fourth level it is so much that it is drunk to do the same thing over and over again. It's the same feeling that you have when you play the old Spyro games on PS1, it looks like it lacks the ambience, the details and the fun. It makes me think of a game under development. shame...

A little cute & hyper-simple game of a dozen very short levels (to be taken with the DLC Pack in Promo)... The only big complaint that can be done to him is that it is simply unplayable on the keyboard/mouse, you can not reconfigure the keys of directions so ' zqsd ' mandatory & the camera is just practically not managed by the mouse. At the right stick of the pad of a controller, you can turn quickly & zoom in/out, to the mouse almost impossible to zoom & the rotation of the camera.... you will have to move your mouse a good MBE to hope to turn a quarter turn with the default setting. By putting the sensitivity of the mouse to the bottom of the menu option, it is almost playable but it still remains very limited. Good little game but PC porting controls messed up. So recommended that if you have a gamepad...

The MAW is a small platform/adventure game in which we control Frank, a small alien who has to survive an unknown planet on which she crashed with her kidnappers. In his quest, Frank is helped by Maw, a providential ally as gelatinous as voracious, and capable of appropriating the special faculties of the creatures he swallows. The whole progression of the game therefore rests on it: we must nourish and direct Maw, knowing that during certain passages, Frank will have to operate alone, leaving his sidekick behind her, in order to liberate the path. The two characters thus form a complementary pair, each one needing the other to progress. Strengths:-it's pretty graphically, the colorful and cute style sticks very well to the universe; -The music is fun and rhythmic, they reinforce the "cartoon" side of the game; -The characters are funny and endeant; -The difficulty is well dosed; -A fun game. Maybe a little too much paint, even (detail below). Weak point:-some slowness in the movements and actions of the characters. Frank responds very well to the controls but his cruising rhythm is quite "pedfather" (she can't run and her jumps are soft, for example). The whole game lacks dynamism even for a game wanting quiet. The MAW is a good little game, but it suffers some of its lack of breath, PEP's, punch, call it whatever you want, but it lacks. The general impression of placidity that the joystick game gives in hands can therefore end up tiring the player accustomed to the more lively gameplays. Nevertheless, the game is perfect to relax from time to time and, above all, it is all suitable for the youngest.
