The Old City: Leviathan
About
The Old City: Leviathan is an experiment in first person exploration that focuses entirely on story.
Everything else is secondary. All that exists is you and the world. Set in a decaying city from a civilization long past, The Old City: Leviathan puts the player in the shoes of a sewer dwelling isolationist. You progress through the narrative by simply exploring the world. The story itself is told via the musings of your character and, chiefly, the environment itself. This environment has been designed to be diverse, interesting, and meaningful to the narrative of the game.
The objective is to understand. The story of The Old City: Leviathan is not told in a traditional manner. As you progress through the narrative, you will overhear a conversation between two entities. The first entity is the nameless character you are controlling who communicates through a monologue. The second entity is the depths of the environment, details and all. Your task is to piece together the narrative as if you are jumping into a conversation with no context. The more you explore, the more you will potentially understand.
This experience is not a normal one.

An atmospherically very great Game that invites you to discover foreign Worlds. The Notes, which are distributed everywhere, offer a lot of Reading material. Granted, I didn't always read them. The Story itself struck me as very complex and demanding. So Far, I haven't rhymed it all up, either. Maybe at some point a German subtitle support will come out, then I'll try it again;)

I can't really tell if I would recommend this.
I played "Dear Esther" and even if this one's a "walking simulator" (I'd rather call both of them "walk through stories") as well I wouldn't compare them to another.
This story didn't got me like Dear Esther got me. It was nice, it was kinda interesting, but I wouldn't spend 10 Bucks on it.
I paid 5 in the summer sale and this price was kinda ok for the experience.
You have to decide for yourself. The images are wonderful, but the story isn't that catchy.
4-6/10

Right in front, The Old City Leviathan is not a Game in the Sense of a Game, but more a Story you discover. There's no Action, no Horror, nothing at all. You read a lot of Texts-for which you have to be able to Speak English very well, because there is no German Translation and the Texts are really quite long and quite complex-and you explore ... Now the Environment without giving too much away.
The Story is exciting and strongly encourages you to think. Personally, I didn't even understand them 100%, but I found them incredibly interesting in general.
However, you can play through it within a Day. Because of the History, which is quite confused, it invites you to Play again, in order to perhaps become a little clearer about Everything.
The End, by the way ... surprisingly:D (And maybe not understandable to everyone, but that's exactly what the Game is off to).

I review the Game here as I understand it: I feel ' The old city: Leviathan ' a little Like a kind of philosophical Game. The Game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world that, in my Sense, has gone through another small Apocalypse-but Maybe sixh is only playing in the Head of the Protagonist, that is, the Character we control. The Backstory is probably about a Conflict that prevails between three Groupings that formed after the first Apocalypse.
The whole Game is interspersed with Elements from the Bible, Greek Mythology and Jewish.
The Game works on two Levels, namely the sometimes disturbing Landscapes and the infinite amount of Lyrics. Yes, you have a lot to read. The Whole thing is rounded off by a very atmospheric Music.
You can play through the Game, similar to ' Ether: One ', by jumping from Chapter to Chapter without much Detours. But If you examine all the Side rooms and paths as possible, you sometimes get to see really violent Things.
