This game isn’t one you play yourself. It’s a play experience you give to three others when you’re at a gathering together.

Say to a chosen player, “Would you like to play a game about me? It’s called The Ringing In My Ears. You’ll play someone at a gathering like this one, but at which I’m not present, and you find yourself in conversation with two other people who also know me.”

Give the Friend role card to someone you think appreciates your convictions and talents.

Give the Secret Lover role card to someone you think knows what’s beautiful about you.

And give the Enemy role card not to an enemy, but to someone you think knows your aspirations and the things that defeat you in them.

And then make yourself scarce so they can play the game.
