Rate top gamesTormented Souls II looked like a dream come true for vintage RE fans — gorgeous atmosphere, striking fixed-camera shots, and a Villa Hess dripping with pure horror. And on that front, it absolutely delivers.
But the frequent cheap hallway traps, deaths that come out of nowhere, and puzzles that rely on barely visible objects quickly turn the tension into frustration. Even as someone who enjoys classic survival horror, I found myself oscillating between admiration and annoyance.
There are moments where exploration hits the right mood and certain puzzles feel genuinely rewarding, but the uneven design makes it a tough sell. This is clearly aimed at PS1-era purists who don’t mind a heavy dose of jank.
At 29.99 € (24.99 € promo), it’s a niche but sincere throwback for fans on PS5, PC, or Xbox.
