I was very disappointed with Tropico 3. In various Photos and Videos it looked to me like a fun dictator and Urban Development simulation. That could actually be, were it not for two decisive Things that would neatly lend you the Fun of the Game: 1. The confusing Economy You start and are first of all begging poor. It is said that Production Facilities, such as Farms or Factories, are being set up, thus boosting the Economy. All Of a sudden you're swimming in the Money. So far so good. After you're doing well financially for hours, you're all at once, without you've noticed it, being back in the Minus area. And it May not come out of it. God Knows from where a huge Mountain of Debt has suddenly been accumulated, which can only be dismantled by Restarting the Mission. 2. Waiting Periods of Debt, however, can be avoided. Whoever is careful and keeps an eye on the appropriate Graphics and Displays can actually create long-term Prosperity, at least in theory. Because a second annoying Factor that can break a Tropico 3 is the overly Long waits When commissioning new Buildings. Even with 10 Construction Offices in 10 different Locations, it takes ages to complete new Buildings. So you get on very slowly in the Game, even with a lot of money, and stares across depressed at the Screen most Of the time, while your own Island Population complains about the poor Service Offer und/or rebels.
