About

One of the dumbest things I've ever made - a text adventure interface for Unreal.

You can use the command "Look" to see possible exits, and type the name of the exit to travel there. It will also highlight objects.

Source project can be found in the attached zip. Drop locations into the map and then add connections as "Exits" within each location. Game will add spline paths and use the display name of the object as the keyword to travel there.

Level blueprint contains a script that, on BeginPlay, will update each location's "Objects" list to include any "Location Object" actor which has been assigned as a child of that location in the World Outliner (or in the actor itself).

Suggestions for additions:

  • Allow for the use of the words "go", "travel" or "turn" before the name of an exit
  • Picking up and dropping objects (I sort of started this but didn't get far)
