About

Woolfe – The Red Hood Diaries is a cinematic fable featuring a vengeful Red Riding Hood. All grown up, cried out and armed with an axe, our noble heroine embarks on an odyssey to avenge the death of her parents. Buckle up for a surprising take on the traditional Red Riding Hood tale, mixed with some good old-fashioned action platforming, fun combo-based hack ‘n slash combat and rewarding environment puzzles that explore the attractive fantasy universe.“THIS IS NOT A FAIRYTALE, THERE’S NOTHING FAIR ABOUT IT”
KEY FEATURES
  • A twisted fairytale – This take on the Red Riding Hood legacy is not an ordinary bedtime story. Four years ago, Red Riding Hood’s father Joseph, lead engineer for Woolfe Industries, died in a work accident. At least, that’s what his family was told. All grown up, our heroine is ready to unveil the truth and present the bill for her tragic loss.
  • A rich, visual experience – Woolfe's atmospheric artwork immerses the player in a rich fantasy universe centred on a city paralyzed with fear, occupied by tin soldiers. Sneak through the slums, descend into the sewers, run through the harbour and escape the city into the evil forest, where all manner of creatures are out to get you.
  • 2.5D action-platforming – The tale’s 2.5D levels combine the simplicity of side-scrolling gameplay with three-dimensional puzzle-solving.
  • Fast axe-wielding combat – Armed with her trusty axe, Red will need to skilfully execute combos to strike at her foes' weaknesses.
  • Deranged fairytale enemies – On her journey, Red faces some bloody encounters with “familiar fairytale faces”, such as The Pied Piper, tin soldiers, big bad wolves, scary fairies and (of course) her arch-nemesis, B.B. Woolfe.
STORY
Red leaves her Granny and her safe place, the forest, and heads back to the city, which she finds paralyzed with fear and scarred by a plague of kidnappings. B.B. Woolfe, CEO of Woolfe Industries, rules with an iron fist and maintains a constant state of fear through his army of henchmen. Our fearless young protagonist sets out on a violent vendetta against the megalomaniac, whom she holds responsible for her father’s death. Level by level, she learns more about her father and what happened on that dreadful night – and, ultimately, about Woolfe’s hidden secrets, which are even darker than Red could ever have imagined.

Woolfe - The Red Hood Diaries reviews and comments

It is very rare before that I do not recommend a Game on Steam, but with Woolfe it was unfortunately not enough. First of all, on the positive Points: The Game is visually very successful in any environment are very extensive and lovingly designed, as you can already see from the Screenshots. Unfortunately, this was already from the Pros points. All the Rest that the Game offers just doesn't really work, Jump and Run Mechanics in itself is ok, but it very often happens that you jump to an Edge that the Character should automatically hold on to, but this in some cases just doesn't happen. Falls down, dies and can then repeat it until at some Point with good luck it still works. The Combat System and the Opponents are much worse. In Battle you have the Opportunity to jump or Double Jump and you can roll off to avoid, then there is another Attack, namely hitting with the Axe. That's it. You then learn two other Attacks in the Course of the Game, but they only work with a lot of luck, because you have to press two Buttons at a time, and then, as with the Edge, you only take action when it suits the Game. In Combat you come across a total of 4 normal and 2 Boss opponents Including Rats, wolves, these Kind of Soldiers (no Idea as they were called again in the Game) and such strange flying Insects (look something like oversized Mosquitoes) The Fights no matter which opponents run Actually always the same, just spam X to attack and jump wildly around the Enemies in order not to get hit if possible. That sounds shamed, but it is also different because Opponents are too fast and in my Opinion also cause too much Damage. Since you can't block, counter or even carry out a serious Attack, you won't be allowed to do any more. The two Boss Fights involve a Flutes Playing child Kidnappers and, of course, Woolfe The big Villain. For both Fights I took several Attempts until I was finally through, not because the Fights were very demanding, it was simply because the Special Attacks of both Bosses kill an easy Onehit and you cultivate the same Approach in both Fights. As with any normal Fight: Pashing on it and jumping around wildly. Both Fights are also almost identical: Boss goes to Safety and spawn opponent Flute Player: Rats Woolfe: Wolves After killing them you get Short time to inflict Damage to the Boss boss generates Onehit attack Flute player: Sound Waves on the Ground Wool fe: Lightning that also comes to one that repeats itself until the Boss no longer has HP. So as I said the Game is very nice to watch, But Gameplay is technically just very one-sided and frustrating, and you have the Game through in just under 2.5 Hours.
