World of Subways 4 – New York Line 7
About
The series "World of Subways" features some of the most interesting Subway Routes of the world for the PC.
Once again World of Subways 4 comes back to New York, perhaps the most exciting city in the world. The whole gaming world takes place in the 70ies/80ies and is created in its typical look.
Start the trip from the green Flushing in Queens and go ahead until you reach the Times Square – the centerpiece of New York. The 15km-long Line 7 runs above ground for most of the route on the well-known N.Y. tracks. This time it´s your chance to discover the Big Apple from a track point of view while you are sitting comfortably at home in front of your PC.
Enjoy exciting missions either as the conductor or the driver. Due to the brand new Aggro-Mode (optionally turn on & turn off) an evaluation of your handling is also possible during the drive. Always regard your speed, braking performance and stop position in the stations to keep your Aggro-display in the positive range. When the display is completely filled with red, your drive is cancelled.
WOS4 provides an interactive train depot with offices, a canteen and a garage. Talk to your colleagues at the interactive depot, listen to exciting adventures and try to manage them on your own. Expect tricky but most interesting missions, which will demand your driving skills.
Scheduled service with change of shifts, the original signal system and the interactive depot make the fourth part of the series as realistic as never before! Board the train now!

I've got the Game a few Rounds now and my Impression is rather sobered up despite initial goodwill.
My Criticisms: 1. The Control is anything but intuitive, why are there any different Upgrades That you rarely need? All Sorts of keys are subject to unnecessary Actions. Nor can I imagine that, in Reality, driving and Braking Levers have to be put up first.
2. Game Physics: The Driving Behaviour of the Trains is hardly realistic either. Braking down From 50 to 0 in a few Meters just doesn't fit. To offer An optional aggro mode, which forces you not to do that, it has nothing to do with "Expert Function," but rather with the fact that poor Driving Physics should be concealed here. Either Trains brake realistically or not. Even Simulations of the Burial Table are now better able to do so.
3. Perimeter and Game world: Basically, after a few trips back and Forth, you saw everything from the Track. After all, the scheduled Duration is not even 40 Minutes. Whether I drive in the Sun or cloudy Sky is a relative thing. And Snow in Winter? These are a few small Snowflakes and some Ice on the lovelessly designed Roads, nothing more.
The Game is meant to represent New York, but it just seems like a quiet Hunch of New York. There are a few Houses on The edge of the Track, no Skyscrapers, always the same Advertisement for Pasta or a fantasy cola brand, but that hardly seems credible.
4. Graphics and Animations: The Graphics are also Average at most. That's where I know Titles from 2003 that look better. Still, the Game itself calls for current PCs. My Computer is not overwhelmed even with Skyrim and similar Titles at the highest Level of Detail, but here I get just 29fps on average for felt Direct X 7.1 graphics. Well, yes.
The Passengers are wooden animated and like to wedge themselves into each other in a heaps. To do this, they stand at almost every Station so close to the Platform edge that it would capture in the Reality of each Train. Realistic? Rather not. So they only remain Graphic Objects without any real Function. For example, they cannot be pinched by Doors, but are simply "coupled" or "plop" right from the Game world, i.e. disappear. Thus, the manual Door control Is also relatively toothless and on top of that very cumbersome.
And no matter what Time of year, basically everyone is lightly clothed and also walk around in Winter wearing a T-Shirt or a role-free Dress.
5. Simulation: As mentioned above, the Whole thing does not necessarily seem realistic. It doesn't really have any Consequences if I make Mistakes. When Passing over a red Signal, the Task is finished, only the red Signals are sometimes difficult to detect, because the HUD is very small. Well, after a few Attempts you know the critical Spots. Nevertheless, that would be better. You get reprimanded by the Boss and more happens then.
If the speed is too high, the Train can derail and even that ends the Task. There is no forced Braking for Exceeding speed. That would be more realistic than Derailing, which in Reality in such Places would probably not happen.
6. Other: The Humor in the Form of NPC is already a strong matter of Taste, my Case is rather not the Sayings. The Synchro is extremely lousy, and sometimes the Sayings are more likely to Be of Foreign Shame with their cramped "Coolness." The Missions are supposed to loosen up the Whole thing, a few are ok in the Approach, but on The whole it seems rather loveless. The Horror Mission is a nice Idea in itself, but then I only walk relatively stupids through the Tunnel for more than 20 Minutes and the Horror Noises then rather annoying Instead of making for Horror, as they are constantly Repeating themselves. Against the Background, the depot area could also have been quietly omitted, as it contributes relatively little to the Game. Especially since this NPC is by no means better animated than the Passengers and have no Facial expressions.
The Sound of the Trains is rather unrealistic, and these Trains do not have a Door Closing Signal in reality either. And the Braps compressor sound sounds suspiciously like KiHa31 from the MSTS?
All in all, I am not in a way that I can recommend it, and I simply have to make a lot of improvements here. Perhaps it would be better to shift the Emphasis to a realistic Railway Simulation, less to an Strived-looking humour with cool Sayings, some of which hope to be spared after the Basic Military Service Period. Whoever gets an animal Laughing Fit now, when he replaces a colleague who tells you that he "has the Box full" and finds "beach and Sun better than subway," will certainly have fun with it, everyone else rather than.
