In 2023, I played «The Burning Crusade» for the first time on the excellent «Netherwing» project. I stepped beyond the «Dark Portal» for the first time. I didn't play it on release in 2006, and I also missed the relaunch in 2021.
The moment you enter «Hellfire Peninsula» is unforgettable. The soundtrack is perfectly chosen. A scorched wasteland and two strongholds. «Horde» and «Alliance».
From the first moments, you realize that this is no longer the familiar «Azeroth». If «Hellfire Peninsula» can still remind you of the «Blasted Lands», then «Zangarmarsh» or «Terokkar Forest» is a cry: We are on another planet!
I really liked the design of the dungeons and the soundtrack to them. Especially «Auchindoun» and «Mana Tombs».
This is how «TBC» stuck in my memory. Strange, mysterious, alien, and enigmatic. There's no vibe of classic medieval times. Everything is completely different and that's cool.
