Yellow Islands
About
This version of Yellow Islands was made for the "Jame Gam #26", with the theme being a spoiler of the game itself:
See Jam theme"You are the Monster"
Yellow Islands was actually my first game ever made years ago when i was trying Unity for the first time (the name even made sense back then), and during this March i´ve trying to learn how to use Unreal Engine (so far and for sum up, it´s been: overwhelming), so when i told my brother the theme for the jam, he instantly told me to try and redo that "experiment" i did long ago as a learning method.
So that´s exactly what i was trying to do here, just experiment and put my hands on the engine for the first time, with a gameplay taken directly from a template with a few tweaks, and just focusing on learning how to use the engine, megascans, lights, sequencer... everything possible.
This version of Yellow Islands is so short, it only takes like 10s to beat if you have the skill, but it serves like a summary of a bigger idea, what should be a full parkour game with more scenery and artistical work, but the idea remains on that 10s.
Finally, saying that I don't expect the best performance (according to nvidia, on my PC this game only runs at 35fps), nor of course the best level design or anything like that, i focused more on immersion and i only hope that experiences like this help me learn how to use the engine.
