About

Welcome to 1bitHeart―the latest title from Alicemare and LiEat developer △○□× (Miwashiba). In this unique and endearing adventure game, take on the role of Nanashi, a lonely, agoraphobic boy, as you solve a slew of mysteries around town while also making friends.

This is the story of a world in which pretty much everything is controlled and watched over by computer programs.
One day, Nanashi―a young boy who has been cooped up in his room―meets a mysterious girl.
“Let’s make some friends.”
“OK!”
Nanashi accepts the young girl’s sudden invitation without giving it much thought.
At that very moment, some very strange things begin to occur in town...

Detective Part (Story Mode)
Gather information and topics by exploring the town and speaking with people to progress through the story.

Conversation Part (Story Mode)
Use the topics and info you’ve gathered to piece together conversations while progressing through the story. (The game ends when your HP reaches 0.)

Free Mode (After clearing Story Mode)
Talk and mingle with the residents of the town, make friends, and play mini games in Free Mode.

*This title was originally a free game, but the Steam version includes specially added events, etc.

This was the 3rd game I made, where I first experimented with a side-scrolling system, voice over and detective elements.
I probably spent the most time working on these 3 things, including revisions.

When designing the town, I had foreign cartoons in mind and was aiming more towards a foreign audience than a Japanese one.
However, the game is set in Japan of the near future and the character design is aimed more towards the Japanese aesthetic.
I took advantage of the fact the game is set in Japan to make some cultural references here and there.

"An adventure game where you make friends". Not a typical tag-line, but if there is any aspect that takes your fancy I hope you will play my game!

1bitHeart reviews and comments

This game, from the creator of LiEat and Alicemare, is great! For me, it's a sort of mix between Ace Attorney, Danganronpa, and dating sim lite. If you liked LiEat and Alicemare, go for it without regrets.

I like 1bitHeart for its sweet Graphics and innovative Story about Friendship, Past and Future, as well as for its mostly bizarre Characters. The Majority of 1bitHeart is reminiscent of Danganronpa, so it's a Kind of Detective Game, just that you have to track down Hackers. By skillfully Combining facts And reading Them closely, one Interacts with the "Evildoers," a Principle that People who, as I said, are already allowed to recognize, who, as I said, have already played Danganronpa;) You move away in Principle of side scroll games and each Area is really beautiful. My personal Highlight was actually the Soundtrack that totally picked me up. Unfortunately, most Of the songs are not included in the additionally teable Soundtrack, which is a small Minus point for me, but well, then I play the Game again, ne? :D I also think it's good that there are three different Endings. Depending on how ambitious you are to make Friends, you can push the Game forward the way you like it. All three Endings have something for themselves, with Happy Ending Being the Best, of course. Overall, a nice Game for In Between ^^

I finished all the △○□× (Miwashiba) creations. Alicemare & LiEAT were really interesting games, especially the second one. It was a pleasure to see that Ib, or One Shot mood in it. That's my personnal favorite genre. But I wasn't really moved by them. And then, one week ago, I received 1bitheart. I heard that it was the last work of △○□× (Miwashiba), and it's a wonderful masterpiece. I never excepted to be that moved by that game. It can talk about pretty serious topics but never in a depressing way, it's really powerful. Plus, the fights of the game are conversations and, as the main protagonist, I'm really bad at it ahah ! XD There's that Phoenix Right vibe on it. Chara-design is truly wonderful, every person that you meet, even if there's a lot of them throught the chapters are just so colorful and their backround is interesting, unique for every one of them. You just can't forget them during the gameplay. There's a true effort on the music too like, since last week from today I'm just listening to the OST, they're all so catchy ! There's not a single that you cannot like in my opinion. They perfectly describe every mood, situation in the game, and help you to love every single character that you see. It's also the first time that I can hear some voice acting in a △○□× (Miwashiba) game. And what a wonderful acting :D XD I swear, I'm searching for bad points but there's just none of them ! I won't spoil the story but, as a very silent person, probably suffering of mutism in the past that also have to analyse and calculate what to say in every conversation, that hero really touched me. The fact that making the effort to talk to other people can bring you happiness & wonderful friendship in the end is not something as natural as some people can think. And, without spoiling it, the differents endings are showing this in a pretty intelligent way. You're not obligated to have people by your side but, during hard moments, it can make a great difference. Anyway, I finished it 100% in one week. XD What a wonderful anthem to Humanity, it's a must play for me.
